If there is gameplay at E3...

do you guys think the final game will end up looking worse? Showing the shiniest but cutting down in the end? I think watch dogs did that.

I think the final product will look amazing plus I dont think they will show gameplay this E3 maybe a cinematic trailer and thats about it.

Given that we have ANOTHER E3 to go through after this one I’m sure they’ll do what they’ve done in the past. E3 2012’s campaign demo looked pretty similar to what we actually got in Infinity (few changed details for plot’s sake of course). As for games doing that, well yeah nearly all games do that at E3. The Last of Us, Aliens: Colonial Marines, and if you say so Watch Dogs (never liked the look of the game, reviews seem to confirm my gut feeling) are all very guilty of this.

That’s how most games do it. “Here’s a demo. featuring all these new things with more to come.” And of course once it actually releases it’s just… all those things that you already saw… sometimes less.

I hope Halo doesn’t do that, but it very well might.

Discuss this here, folks <mark>https://forums.halowaypoint.com/yaf_postst244614_The-Official-Halo-5-E3-Hype-Thread.aspx</mark>

It’s easier to do instead of constantly making new threads about the same thing!

It all depends on what you’re talking about.

Graphics, as long as 343i keeps Bungies “We’re going to showcase what the engine can do” Demos/announcement trailers, then we’ll do okay.

But as far as gameplay, and other aspects of the game, I honestly hope they do better, in my mind, Halo 2 was the biggest let down for me because of the Halo 2 E3 demo being so awesome, and then I finally get to play the game for my self on PC and Xbox 360, and find that some of the things that the E3 demo had, didn’t make it into the final game.

Where in the OP did it say this thread is a Hype thread? This is Ericboo asking a question concerning rather or not we think gameplay shown at this E3 will reflect the same in the final release. Not every E3 related thread is a Hype thread.

I changed it to “Mega Info Thread”. It is intended to be an official info and hype thread. Pretty much all things about E3.

I think 343 will do a fantastic job as far as graphics go. Considering in halo 4 cutscenes i occasionally thought the characters were real actors, and that was only on the 360, and the xbox one is capable of do much more, i believe the graphics will blow your mind.

Well you butchered up my name stealth, hey. But yes, you can’t put everything under one big mega thread. Things can easily get drowned out and not get the proper attention they deserve. It wouldn’t be proper for discussion.

Also just because others do it. doesn’t mean it’s right. it just comes to show the bad practices of the gaming industry.

I was going to say ‘Halo doesn’t really do that’, but then I remembered Halo 2 campaign reveal :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t think 343 would risk showing something better than final product because they know people aren’t going to tolerate lies or anything negative this time around.
The game has to be borderline flawless, and they know this.

If there’s gameplay then its H2 all over again

I’m more interested in this Watch Dogs business. What did they cut out (aside from the usual, ridiculous -Yoink- that is DLC launching within a short time of the game coming out).

I believe it’s likely Halo 5 will be a finished product. They’ve had plenty of time to work on it.

In all honesty I don’t think we have to worry about this as I doubt we will see gameplay. Thats what 2015 will be for. (or late 2014)

I would not compare Ubisoft and their 5 port release to 343i, who are working the MS engineers to create a custom engine for Halo 5.

The graphics on the E3 2013 demo was a target render than was waaaaay off target…

I have no idea about the Watch Dogs thing, but in general I’d say this.

Sometimes developers have to cut out certain things as they add in others… I don’t think that’ll be the case in Halo 5, but it could because they’re building a whole new code which is very different from the rest of the Halo games’ engines. I guess we’ll see, but even if it does happen in Halo 5, it probably won’t in Halo 6.

Thing is I think if this bothers you you’re being overly nitpicky. Sometimes developers write something that they later realize is way too resource intensive or breaks part of the code far too heavily to fix.

I doubt there will be “Halo 5: Guardians” gameplay at this year’s E3 (I’d be very pleasantly surprised if there was), but if there is, I doubt we’d have another “Watch Dogs” situation.
The thing about “Watch Dogs” is that what was shown in 2012 was a target render on a PC. It is a multiplatform game, so there needs to be cuts here and there. I’m sure “The Division” will do the same.
"Halo 5: Guardians" is being developed exclusively for Xbox One. So 343 have very defined spec requirements, as opposed to being multiplatform, where they need to take all platform specs into consideration, and then PC benchmarks.
The “Halo 4” E3 2012 was pretty true to the final product, with the exception of how that mission in particular played out.

But in the end that could be a good thing

If they’re showing any Halo gameplay it is for the Halo game or games they’re releasing this year since 343 promised a new Halo every year after they took over it if I’m not mistaken.

I’m hoping there will be gameplay or at least in-engine trailer for it. It would be a shame after all of this time not to see anything on the game that we’ve been waiting to hear about for a year. I also hope there is another Halo game coming out that will have gameplay.
