If there are two species to play as,

Humans being one of them, would you want the other species to be Elites or Prometheans, what would you want to play as?

Probably Elites. People love Elites.

I’d say it’s plausible to have both Promethean Knights (because they’re more similar in height and strength to the Spartans) and the elites as playable in MP due to their similarity to each other. And there’s the added fact that it would add some much needed variety to the game.

However, if I had to choose I’d choose the Elites over the Prometheans. Because to be quite frank it was extremely boring fighting against the Prometheans in Halo 4’s campaign and I wouldn’t imagine it to be that great playing as them in MP.

Elites. Not only are they fan favourites but they would also be much easier to implement. The sheer size of Prometheans alone would make them hard to balance as they’re 10ft tall compared to a Spartans’ 7ft and the Elites’ 8ft. Not to mention their shape would add massive problems to the hitboxes and the limbs would be much more difficult to animate to make them work in multiplayer gameplay. They also don’t have hands for weapons and so it would only make sense if they were restricted to Hardlight weapons, which would be a terrible move for the sandbox and gameplay in general.

Well, a Knight is like over 10 feet tall. :stuck_out_tongue:

A Spartan in armor and a Knight would be very similar in weight, however.

I believe an Elite could be as small as 7’4 too. And the largest Spartan-IVs we’ve seen are DeMarco and Hoya, who are each like 7’1.

Elites, for balancing reasons.

Yeah, they’re probably the very smallest though, similar to how healthy humans can be as short as 4ft "10-5ft. That’s very uncommon (In males anyway. I don’t know about anywhere else but the average height where I’m from seems to be 5ft "8-6 "3).

I’d assume that DeMarco and Hoya are probably around average though, considering Thorne, Grant, and Madsen are all around 6ft "9 - 6ft "10. Jun-A266, Emile-A239 and Kat-B320 are also all around 6ft "9 - 6ft "10 so it can be assumed that that’s the average height for Spartans undergoing augmentation procedures post-Spartan II program.

Even Elites are a little unbalanced in terms of size and hitbox, letting people play as Prometheans (whom are over 10 feet tall), in Multiplayer would be very unorthodox in terms of balance.

The Halo CEA Library records that some elites have stood up to 9 foot 3. They could easily match any Promethean. Not that I’m saying we should include them into multiplayer, but they aren’t too different.

As for playing with something other than a human, the flood being revamped would be a nice change in pace in select game-types. I’ve played a shooter called “Natural Selection”, that essentially pits in multiplayer marines vs. parasitic aliens vying for control over objective sites on the map. The evolution that the a good team of players can bring to the faction is stunning. Just by capping and holding points you can research and buy new weapons as a marine, or produce new species of Khara as aliens.

Just saying, the flood have some serious potential if 343i decides to pay a look at this game.

Elites, of course! Prometheans would be stupid. Perhaps both would be cool, but I really wouldn’t care for the latter. At all.

You are aware that an else of that size is very rare. An elite being 9 feet tall is like seeing an 7 foot tall human today, we have a lot of them but compared the the average human they are rare. There was an Elite who was ten feet tall and he was considered a giant. Think of it as ratio to humans. In the sense that you are going on is basically gathering all tall Sangheili to be put into a simulation for combat. It seems weird.

Matching a Promethean seems pretty outrageous just because they are taller than the average elite.

Considering theirs a 400+ pg thread that supports Sangheili returning to MP in every aspect. (That I support.) I would imagine though that the majority of players would want Sangheili back.

Elites provided more variety for Halo’s MM even more. The fact that they were removed for canon purposes is ridiculous.
I’m sure 343 has sought out to add them. As for Prometheans, OP much? That is for the Knight form at least.

Okay first lets ask ourselves this why were the Elites playable in Halo 2. The reason Elites are playable in Halo 2 was that you play as Arbiter (Elite) in Halo 2 Campaign and they learn how to use all weaponry (UNSC and Covenant), due to their allaince. So using the HUD and constructing hit box is easier to implement from the camapaign in Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo: Reach (exception). So Elites as they have already been featured in Halo multiplayer it is beneficial to implement them again… but a new species prometheans, well we first don’t have a HUD, hit box would be too large, and game canon wouldn’t be very realistic.

I would much rather the Jiralhanae as they know how to use Covenant (Elites, Grunts, Hunter, Jackals), Pack (Brutes), UNSC (Humans)weaponry; and they are about the same size as Spartans and Elites; plus in Halo: Escalation Arbiter Thel is trying to make a peace treaty with them… and so could justisfy an allaince between pack, speratist elites and UNSC. Although each faction would have the enemies as well ONI, Storm Covenant and Loyalists (if they still exist).

I’d say both. Prometheans could be a nice addition, and Elites would be a nice return to multiplayer, especially for Flood.
