In my opinion, it would be a combination of H3: ODST, Halo: Reach and Halo: Combat Evolved.
-The speed, evasive movements and plasma bomb of Reach’s banshee.
-The look of ODST’s banshee.

Hmm, I’d rather keep the old physics of the Banshee, less sporadic movement where doing barrel rolls isn’t so fast, less powerful banshee bomb, but still more powerful than that in Halo 3, and more health. But yes, I would like the older look from Halo 2/3/ODST.
If the Banshee were to appear in Halo 4, which I highly doubt it will, but will assume that it will be in for the sake of this conversation, I would like it to go through some design changes.
I love how the guys and girls at 343i are adding their own personal touches to the designs of weapons and vehicles in Halo 4 (note the Warthog and Master Chief’s armour) while still keeping them recognizable as what they truely are. This is exactly what they did with the Banshee in Reach, and I loved the way I looks in there (though the way it acts, not so much). I’d rather that they make their own version of the Banshee rather than follow the looks from Halo 1-3.
As for how the Banshee would work, I’d be happy if they took the Halo 3 behaviour. The Banshee in that game wasn’t too powerful, yet was still a very useful tool that was worth considering. I can’t say I liked the whole idea of “Let’s make it fast and powerful, yet easier to blow up” approach in Reach. It was good in theory, but bad in implementation.
I’d like the Halo 4 Banshee to fly like a combination of Reach’s banshee and Battlefield 3’s jets. As for the appearance, I want something new and fresh, seeing as the factions have all changed so much since the time of the original trilogy.

-Being able to hover like in Halo CE. -Durable: I want it to feel like a combat vehicle. The Reach one was made out of paper.

Considering half the community complains it’s made of cardboard and the other half can’t stop whining at how overpowered it is, I’d say the Reach Banshee was about right, minor balancing issues aside. That said, I don’t see anything being carried over from the most recent game due to nostalgia, it takes two for that to set in.

The Banshee bomb gets abused on Reach apparently. Sure it might take a skilled player to do it right without getting his Banshee hijacked, but it’s childplay by the looks of it. I saw this the other day… I was kinda appalled.
Reminded me a lot of the Halo PC Banshee. They were called shee noobs. shudders I only manged to avoid detection by hiding (not in obvious places). Otherwise, it was all over unless you had a Shotty or plasma.
In H3, the tricks were slower, the Banshee was slower, there were a lot more threats (missile pod, spartan laser, power drain). It was more balanced.
And actually, I’d like to see the ODST Banshee. It could lean to the left/right and also hover.

No H3 banshee was the best the series had seen thus far
it took skill to be good with it and went down fairly easy with missile pod/ar.
the reach banshee is by far the worst banshee to date, rockets and plasma are useless since one flip and they lock off.
the fuel rod on the reach banshee is ridiculous, it take 0 skill to use since the area of effect is so huge

The Fuel Rod is overpowered and it’s evade ability is too fast/can be used to often but it’s armour is way too weak. It’s like Bungie thought it was too good so instead of decresing the power or reload time of the Fuel Rod and the speed of the Evade abilities they decided to make the armour really weak. Two wrongs don’t make a right.
This is why I think the Halo 3 Banshee was the best. The Fuel Rod wasn’t too powerful and the evade was slow but good enough to dodge lasers and rockets, and it was armoured enough to be able to splatter people and shrug off Battle Rifle bulltets. Plus it was a bit more difficult to control than the Reach Banshee. If someone was good enough in the Banshee they could keep it alive throughout the entire match.

The reach cannon was the most power ful in all halo games and it dosen’t need an upgrade, and personally the halo 3 banshee was amazing in the hands of a good pilot but still balanced
Better not be like reach’s. it was made of cardboard, but whats the point if you can’t hit it with anything and you’re dead when you actually have the opportunity to actually hit it?

I can’t understand why the Banshee was changed in the first place; the original design looked fantastic, and was used across five games. I feel that the Reach Banshee looks terrible.

The Halo CE banshee hover would make the banshee very easy pray for any anti vehicle weapon… I like it, it also makes the banshee easier to jump on and board.
