If someone hops out of a vehicle in wzff...

Please do not immediately try to destroy it. Someone could be intending to get back in, or someone else could put it to good use.

That’s the exact reason why I never leave any vehicle except mongooses or being the passenger of something

Is target practice not a good use?

This is good etiquette, but unfortunately exist falls by the wayside when anonymity of online gaming across the world is introduced.

A good strategy is to go to a more remote location to do whatever you need to do (I’m assuming you were accessing a REQ station).

I mainly just destroy my vehicles if they’re already weak after I get out of them.

I wish we could have some power like freeze our vehicle like 20 seconds, or some base in case we want to put timonel or use some overshield or damage boost for vehicles

From his wording I kind of assumed he was referring to when you are in say a Sword Ghost and then decide to swap it out for a Scorpion or Banshee, and so just get out next to some players so they can have it… Only for them to start shooting at it until it blows up. I actually had that happen when I decided to drop an ONI Wasp next to a guy in a gungoose because I was going to call in a Phaeton. What did he do? Shoot at the fully intact ONI Wasp until it exploded, then drove off with his plain and normal - not even a camo variant - gungoose.

There’s also that situation when a player gets flipped out of their vehicle in some way or another (Like a Wasp being EMP’ed and landing on its side), where some people think it’s bloody hilarious to stop doing whatever they’re doing to shoot at the vehicle that they just fell out of. I’ll readily admit I’ve done that more than once, but generally only on commonplace vehicles and especially when it’s nearing Rounds 4 and 5 and they’re still driving around a standard issue Warthog or a Ghost.

Earlier though some guy got hit by the Warden Eternal while using a wasp and I saw him frantically trying to get back into it - I had the Warden in clear sight of my ONI Scorpion, but the guy’s wasp was literally an inch away from him. If I shot at the Warden, it might hit his Wasp. so I just held my fire until he managed to flip it and get back inside, miraculous to say the least since he was within melee range of the Warden.

What’s the point of destroying a working vehicle? Is it to protect a future driver from death when they have a low-tier vehicle, to force them to get a better one, or to stop an enemy from taking it instead?
I admit I don’t get it. If nobody’s going to use it, it’s going to despawn anyways, so why waste time and ammo?

Asking a Spartan not to destroy, maybe asking too much.

Yes, a similar instance is what led to this post. I was in such disbelief and frustration I immediately posted here to vent and hopefully make a little psa haha.

If the player piloting the vehicle dies outside of it, its free game. If the vehicle is on deaths door, its doing you a favor as you will most likely die if you get back in. If you are being a turd sandwich in game, well its your fault. Thats my philosophy
