…do you throw grenades at your own teammate? had this happen to me a number of times. anybody else run into teammates who wanted the mantis so bad they’d betray you for a ride?
> …do you throw grenades at your own teammate? had this happen to me a number of times. anybody else run into teammates who wanted the mantis so bad they’d betray you for a ride?
I normally ignore them and move on. Although today I got to the mantis first and a guy kept stuck it twice, so I hopped out and let him have the mantis. He got in and I properly returned the favor blowing the mantis up and killing him.
1 kind act for another I always say.
This happens to me about 9 out of 10 times I get in the mantis first, effectively making this achievement more of a chore than it already is.

I was going to say that this is what I would do if it ever happened to me.
Have seen it happen though.
There was just a thread about this earlier lol.
I think the Mantis is armor lock reborn as the dumbest vehicle ever in Halo that doesn’t fit in.
It does not fit into the atmosphere of Halo.
It is over powered, because the only way you can possibly stop it is with a charged plasma pistol shot and LOTS of grenades. Its guns and missiles are too powerful as well.
Its a stupid robot suit.
Its a vehicle… that has spartan armor shields???
I’ve had the same thing happen to me probably 1/3rd of the times I’ve used the Mantis. It attracts the horrible, stupid, little kid types who think “OMG A ROBOT SUIT WITH MISSILES! I MUST HAVE IT! OH NO MY TEAM MATE IS DRIVING IT IM GOING TO BLOW HIM UP IF I CAN’T DRIVE IT!”
I once had TWO team mates chasing me, throw their plasma grenades at me, shoot me with their DMRs, finally hit freeze me with a plasma pistol shot, causing the other team to be able to throw like 9 grenades at me and kill me!
this afternoon some guy on my own team kept plasma charging me, until another teammate came up and smacked him to death. the guy kept by me for a couple of minutes fending off -Yoink- teammates
a true hero

You’re welcome for that brilliant game play design, it is one of many ways Halo 4 is revolutionizing the video game industry. We are 343 Industries.

I usually don’t even go for the Mantis anyway, I prefer the Ghost.
But I always watch the Mantis at the start to make sure at least someone gets in it so the opposing team doesn’t take it. If it’s still empty at that point, I’ll ditch the ghost and grab it.
I just go on with the game and better luck next time. Whats strange is that on Ragnorak at the start, people usually ignore it, but on Shatter, it’s always a race.
And this one time, someone go in a damaged Mantis and and a teammate betrayed him and then I started destroying the betrayers shields and fired two bursts of my BR into him to warn him. Then he destroyed my Mantis shields when I got into one. I could tell both cases were intentional.

We need more people like that who aren’t afraid to be booted if someone is bothering a teammate’s Mantis. If you see him again, give him my best regards, please?
> …do you throw grenades at your own teammate? had this happen to me a number of times. anybody else run into teammates who wanted the mantis so bad they’d betray you for a ride?
Yeah, I do that. I have my heart set on that achievement. (ironically, I still have 0/20.)
I never thorw nades unless one of my teamates are camping for it (waiting for the respawn)

It is not over powered at all, I would say it is quite balanced being what it is. It’s like shooting at a spartan with triple the normal health and that spartan just happens to have rockets and a turret.

By this logic, most of the vehicles are “armor lock reborn”.
The Mantis is hardly as powerful as the Scorpion tank, and nobody has problems withthat
Yeah this has happend to me loads of times, the game starts and already like 8 people are rushing to the mantis like its the last thing on earth, then if i get in it all the other team mates are throwing sticky’s at the mantis then the enemy team comes over and get cheap easy kills costing the team the rest of the match stupid kids
No. I go on about my merry way. Now if they decide to run me over or constantly get in my way then I may chuck a grenade or two or even a PP blast. I generally play with friends so it’s usually one of them in it anyways.
Depends. If I’m playing by myself I just move on but if I’m playing with Robk001, KILL ALL THE TEAMATES!

If it was me i wouldn’t care if i get booted i would just fire away at all the noobs that stand before me

The Mantis is MUCH harder to kill than a Scorpion, and tends to get more kills too. I mean do you seriously ever see a Mantis taken out any other way than freezing it with a plasma pistol and either plasma grenading it to death or jumping on it? Because I don’t. In fact, I’ve shot them with spartan lasers only to see Mantis after Mantis shrug off being blasted with a huge *** laser beam.

I find getting to the scorpion harder than getting to the mantis.
