If karen traviss has anything to do with halo 4. i will not be buying it. if glasslands is any indication, she knows nothing of the halo 'verse, and she made that book 200 pages of hate.

I’m pretty sure shes too busy working on the other two books in her Glasslands Trilogy…
What was wrong with Glasslands? I thought it was an interesting read.
her book wasn’t hate on the halo verse. It was hate on the spartan program and on the UNSC. Her book made sence.
It covered problems that the halo fans have not thought about before.
Although, I would have rather someone who played the games and read the other books write it.
Still, she made a good story, and left room for a sequal.I legitly want to know if Jul will escape, or what will happen with Naomi and her father. Will phillip be okay? What are the humans doing on instilation 03?
Glasslands is a different view into the UNSC and the Spartan program. Remember, there’s a dark side to everything, including saving humanity.
She is the first author in history to put Halsey and the Spartan program in it’s true light: it was a horrible act. It obviously was in the end worh it, but at the time, the Covenant and humanity had no knowledge of each other.
All Karen did was write the characters exactly how they would react to finding out about the butchering of children. If you think accurate character development is a bad thing, then I suppose Halo just isn’t for you anymore.

No she wrote how SHE would react to that. and she has stated that she hasn’t read any of the other books or played the games. thats not accurate character development
.

If she did, she would have held the same biased view everyone else had/ has.

Not true; there’s more to Halo than books and games. She’s a huge fan of Red vs. Blue
Red vs Blue has nothing to do with the halo story.
and How can someone write about a universe if they know NOTHING ABOUT IT?

Have you ever watched Red vs Blue?
I’m pretty sure she knew a good amount of the universe. She did right a great book about it. Your only argument is your opinion, by the way.
red vs Blue is a MACHINIMA. not an official Source of the halo canon. like the books and games.
> red vs Blue is a MACHINIMA. not an official Source of the halo canon. like the books and games.
Yeah, you’re correct. I meant it still is dealing with things in the Universe, like fanfiction.
> What are the humans doing on instilation 03?
Indeed.
> I’m pretty sure she knew a good amount of the universe.
I’ve seen numerous comments from Traviss herself to the contrary. She literally does not give one single damn about the canon of the universes she writes for. She prefers to completely disregard existing canon – invalidating and disrespecting the works of previous authors in the process – rather than working within its constraints, no matter how minimal those constraints may be. She tries to explain and justify this, but it comes off as selfish and ignorant; she doesn’t even seem to consider for a moment that the existing canon was created by other authors, and that ignoring it devalues their work.
> Your only argument is your opinion, by the way.
Most of the arguments against Glasslands – characters’ personalities being retconned, major aspects of whole cultures being retconned, numerous events literally being logically impossible, Traviss cramming her insipid and stupidly-idealistic opinions down the reader’s throat – are facts, not opinions.
And I agree with the OP. If this Traviss hack has even the slightest involvement in Halo 4, I will seriously reconsider purchasing it.

thank you… and frankie has arleady said that glasslands will tie into halo 4. i hope it is only the ONI Infinity ship he means.

Wow this sounds very similar to her other writings for SW, particulary of Clone Troopers greatly hostile hating Jedi. I think Traviss has some anger issues when it comes to the big heroes of the series.

She ruined the Republic commandos stories. and she WILL ruin Halo.

Not necessarily. 343i is watching her work and working with her much more closely than LucasArts has ever watched her Star Wars works. In plus, I found Glasslands to be quite an excellent read and am definitely looking forward to the rest of the books in the series.
If you want my opinion on Traviss and and her way of writing a book, yes you kind of need to know the universe in which the story takes place, but she did wright a good book for Halo. Also 343i has a very tight grip on all things Halo, and I don’t think they would of signed off on Glassland’s story if it didn’t fit 343i’s big book of Halo. If she has any part in Halo 4’s story writing, I’m still going to buy it, because #1 it’s Halo, #2 I want to see what’s Halo’s next step in graphics, and #3 I help TSL out with their videos.
If you don’t like her and her stories, fine, you don’t need to buy any of her books, and if she does help with Halo 4, then don’t buy it, I don’t think any one here would care if you don’t buy it. The Halo Community is like a Hydra, if one person leaves, two more will take that person’s place.
Every time I see a post like this saying “I’m not going to buy Halo 4 if ________” in my mind, it translates to “I’m a big spoiled brat who thinks that every one should care if I don’t buy something” Come on people, grow up it’s just a game, and this isn’t your family or little circle of friends, this is the public Halo Community, if a small hand full of people don’t buy a Halo game just because one little problem that only they don’t like, it isn’t going to break 343i’s bank, it’s not going to cause the whole community to up and leave.
