If "analyze" is Kinect only I will seriously consider not buying this game or Halo 4, who'

I have always been optimistic about 343i, hoping that they would not totally destroy the franchise and stay loyal to fans, not giving in to the money and cheap gimmicks. Now, I have no issue with there being Kinect features in CEA, however I think that you should at least give players the option to analyze on their controller.

First off, it’s not like it would be impossible by any stretch, all you have to do is set it as a button on the controller similar to VISR mode from ODST or night vision from Reach. So, by making it Kinect only they are specifically leaving something potentially awesome out for over 50% of the player base

Secondly, I highly doubt that anyone is going to rush out and buy a Kinect just for this feature. Of all the people who play Halo, only some of us care enough about the universe and story enough to actually appreciate this feature. So, do you want to isolate the people like me who have bought all of your Halo books and everything else you’ve pumped out or the little kids with Kinects that think the Flood is a Covenant experiment gone wrong or don’t even know what the Forerunners are

Now, I have already pre-purchased CEA, but I can easily reverse that and make you, yes YOU 343, lose $40, along with those who agree with me. it may not seem like a lot, but it can add up. Also, if this Yoink! continues, I refuse to drop money on Halo 4, 5 ,6 any future books or other thing your company makes, so you could lose over $1000 from me alone.

Anyone who loves Halo and is as big a fan as me, show your opposition for crap like this, BOYCOTT HALO CEA IF THIS FEATURE IS MADE KINECT ONLY!!! Thank you and I hope you strongly consider this, fans and 343 alike.

(And, to the 343 mods who will most likely ban me for making this, think about it, by doing that you are only lowering me and others’ opinions of your corporation, and proving my point further that you have finally fallen to big business)

I may be done with the Halo series now.

> I may be done with the Halo series now.

I was it when they announced that they make a Reach mappack for CEA…

I do not see this as a huge problem. Maybe because I didn’t get the glorious chance of play CE back in 2001.

Don’t get me wrong. I love Halo. I love the idea of Halo and it’s universe. But I am not bothered that this is a Kinect only feature. I have friends. I can borrow a Kinect if need be. I’m not gonna cancel my pre-order because I can’t analyze things and build up my Library; as much I want to.

Now if you want a suggestion on this, I’d say they need to make the feature compatible with headsets. Like, look at an object to scan, speak into the mic “Scan!”, and it scans. That is one way to do it if a simple button press can not be put in.

Everyone take a chill pill and stop taking hits off of the Grunts’ methane tanks.

Then go complain about the art booklet in the UK halo CEAs and the warthog being in Forza Motorsport.

Its not so much the feature itself that concerns me, it is that they are trying to shyster fans into spending $200 on a piece of junk camera toy just to use a cool feature that would make the game more fun. Its not that I cant analyze that makes me mad (although it is part of it) it is that 343 is totally Yoink!ing its fans over like this, and seriously makes me think that maybe they don’t know what they’re doing and Halo should have ended with Reach

I read about this today and pissed me a bit. It remember me the scanning system in games like Metroid Prime, and it was fun to complete all the scan library. I hope they add an update for that, because I don’t like to pay for games that come with some content blocked or with DLC on day one. 343i gives me a bad impression with this. Also there are a lots of games coming on November, and I am sure I cannot afford all the ones I want, so maybe this one will have less preference in my list knowing this kinect -Yoink-.

I for one don’t care, but I’m really not surprised that the lot of you are annoyed. What I am surprised is the extent to which you are so mad about a stupid, unnecessary feature that you’re going to miss out on the game.

All it is is a 3D model with information about what you’re looking at, like the Elite or the Scorpion. There’s nothing they could write that I wouldn’t find on either Halopedia or the Halo Enclyclopedia. If I want to see it, I’ll look it up on YouTube, where someone will inevitably post videos of it.

It’s not that big of a deal.

We want to use the model viewer.

Did anyone notice the “Kinect mode” button?

And the buttons for the controller?

As would I. But it’s really not that big of a deal. It’s just a 3D model. Think about what people are saying - boycotting a game because they won’t get to spend 5 minutes looking at a 3D model that they’ll get bored of and forget about.

It’s not 343’s fault that MS makes them put something Kinect exclusive into their game just because Kinect flopped harder than an Olympic diving board.

Is it really that important to fight over?

> Did anyone notice the “Kinect mode” button?

Yup, looks like you can use the model viewer without Kinect, to bad you need Kinect to unlock any of the models.

I’m not boycotting it, I don’t know who is but they are stupid. We are just really upset that they would keep this away from us. Also you think Kinect flopped? Last time I checked an install base of 1 out of every 5 xbox owners, in an extremely short time mind you, for a peripheral is far from a flop.

I call it a flop because the majority of people I know dislike it. There is, among the people I’ve spoken to, almost universal dislike for the Kinect. All it’s used for now is voice commands. There are, and will almost certainly be no critically acclaimed games that use Kinect fully.

That’s just me though. I gauge things on quality, not the money that they produce. Call me old fashioned.

I think that I’m more upset because “this is where it starts.” It begins with a small exclusive feature that nobody really needs, but is just nice to have. Then before you know it, Halo 4 is not playable without it. Its the fact that the game is now on the slippery slope that concerns me more than the actual feature i’ll be supposedly “missing out on.”

It’s a business, all that matters is sales.
Also I had no idea you could see into the future. Now that I know there will never be any good Kinect games I guess I won’t buy one ever.

This worries me.

> And the buttons for the controller?

There was? I might have to rewatch the video. I doubt that 343 would leave controller users hanging like that. After all this is supposed to be classic Halo and what’s more classic than a good old fashioned controller.

> I think that I’m more upset because “this is where it starts.” It begins with a small exclusive feature that nobody really needs, but is just nice to have. That’s a very good point actually, although I think it’s a little far fetched for them to go from a small feature to the whole game. If it were the whole game, then there really would be a boycott, not to mention it would sell poorly. People just wouldn’t stand for it.

When will Microsoft realize that Kinect isn’t in their best interest?
