If Prometheans are out, Sentinels foes are a must!

Having only Covenant type enemies for the whole game is the wrong way to do a spiritual reboot if that’s what they’re aiming for. The original Halo had a whopping three different enemy factions: Covenant, Flood, and Sentinels. Fighting only the Banished for the whole game would be a massive disappointment and downgrade from the original Halo. Sure, Halo: Reach was fine with only Covenant enemies but it was solely focused on the core of the Human-Covenant War. That story is done and over with, it’s time for new conflicts and new enemies instead of the same thing over and over again.

It’s unfortunate that the Prometheans were a flop for the fanbase in terms of gameplay, but at least the Sentinels can be brought back with new classes too. Right? Three way fights were a big part of the original Halo’s campaign if this spiritual reboot seeks to capture that.

Halo infinite already has Covenant, Banished and Sentinels. Sentinels were confirmed by Joe Staten in December’s Inside Infinite. People are already speculating that the flood will most likely be in the game as well, since infinite is taking place on zeta halo. So that’s 4 enemy factions. I don’t really see a problem.

I wouldn’t mind the sentinels returning but who would be influencing them? The monitor of Installation 07 hasn’t been given much attention despite the insane history that that particular ring has so I doubt they’ll be doing anything with the sentinels. Then again, they are predominantly autonomous so maybe they’ll step in because of the significant damage taken to Installation 07.

The Covenant is over with, the Banished serve as the “Covenant” enemy type. So if the Flood return, that would make three enemy factions theoretically which would be great.

But is it confirmed that the sentinels are enemies? Or just ambience?

Sentinels are pretty much confirmed, and I’m betting prometheans will be in the game with a more minor role. Not sure about the flood, but hopefully they come back too.
