Chakas isn’t Guilty Spark…
My guess is that they’re Composer-ified Promethean Warrior-Servant Forerunners… cuz, you know, they’re called “Prometheans”
> Chakas isn’t Guilty Spark…
Not the one we are familiar with. But he is the original personality of the GS fragments.
To be honest though, his personality doesn’t really align with the GS that we know from CE.

his mind along with other humans were turned into spark

Then explain why Guilty Spark was mentioned as one of many fragments of Chakas by Chakas himself. Cortana isn’t Dr. Halsey, same goes with Chakas and Spark.
chakas seems to be the spark that took over the UNSC ship, while the spark from the games is another fragment. Thats how it is explained in the book

The only people who call him Spark are the ONI team and that is a temporary name they gave him to make their findings look better to their bosses. Chakas is Chakas, simple as that.
Well one of the missions in Halo 4 is called Composer so i assume this could be the case.
Nah, Guilty Spark is a fragmented part of Chakas Mind, transferred into a seperate monitor that is given the task of guarding, monitoring, Installation 04, this is likely because of how Bornstellar felt about Chakas and his loyalty, duty, to the Forerunners. Chakas however is still a very seperate being, although a monitor but a different one from the monitor we know as 343Guilty Spark, Chakas himself has not appeared in the games just yet.
But I do believe the Promethean Knights are likely composed Warrior Servants, their bodys have been stripped down and transformed, melded and preserved inside the Armor of the Knights, which act similar to the larger War Sphinxes.
Its possible the Watchers could be a form of composed being as well, but they all seem to be perserved in a sort of mechanical tomb, which happens to be a massive suit of highly advanced armor.

But BB’s Phillips fragment was also technically BB. As was Cortana’s fragment in Reach (still technically Cortana), and Cortana’s fragment in First Strike (also still Cortana).
The AI form of Chakas is GS. In turn, GS has many fragments, obviously more advanced than the UNSC equivalent.

I don’t think so, because every Knight is at the control and whim of the Didact. That wouldn’t necessarily be the case if they were all Promethean Forerunners. Calling them “Promethean Knights” just identifies the specific technology, as a different class of Forerunner warriors would not have access or control of them.
Also possible. But as the leader of the Prometheans (both in terms of the class of Forerunner Warrior-Servant and the AI constructs), they could have just been following his orders as a battlefield commander.
Here is what Greg Bear said:
> Me:The relationship between Chakas and Guilty Spark has caused a bit of trouble in the Halo community. Some contend that Chakas is 343 Guilty Spark, others believe that Spark is a fragment of Chakas. Can you reveal which of the two, or any other possibility, is correct?

> Logically, if Chakas is Guilty Spark in the first instance, then a duplicate or fragment would also be Chakas… but that philosophical argument is pretty dense! More to come in Vol 3, which I’m now revising.
So even if Guilty Spark is Chakas, then so is every fragment he created. That could mean 2401 Penitent Tangent is Chakas. 049 Abject Testament may be Chakas. The physical Monitor of 343 Guilty Spark died on Installation 04. Meanwhile we have the real physical Chakas alive and well on the ship he hijacked.
That’s assuming that those AI were also created from Chakas, which is not stated anywhere. We only know that Guilty Spark’s origin was Chakas. That’s pretty much it.
Either way, Greg Bear is right about all the deeper philosophical meaning behind who “is” whom/what. I think it’s safe to say we shouldn’t focus on that since the Forerunners were quite the mysterious race anyway.
I feel like, looking at the design of the knights and how their bodies are twisted, hidden in some ways inside the armor, that it was either due to being composed or something very sinister has happened to them. The Halo 4 Hero Awakening Vidoc, seems to mention the Promethean Knights armor being more of a Sarcophagus, Tomb, that preserves the individual within, but that idea could of changed overtime.

Which is why I said “could”. Either way, Spark was confirmed to be ONE of many. That fragment was destroyed. The Monitor in Primordium is not Guilty Spark.
promethan skulls kinda look like human ones. possible they are humans i suppose.
What planet is The Return said to take place on?

If you consider the name “Guilty Spark” to ONLY refer to the monitor from Installation 04, then yes that’s correct.
It really depends on what names we assign to different people/things.
