NO REWARD IS NEEDED, idk why we are trying to compromise on this? There are 10 other games that were released this year with battle passes and progression that are stellar. Get rid of the challenge system, get a normal progression system, have the seasons expire idc just quit forcing me to play in a way, or a game mode, that I don’t want to play, because if that’s the case, I won’t play.
Fair point. It assumes, however, most people know about the carryover and/or believe the supreme intelligence operating at 343 won’t change its mind.
If they could make it so every armour set was obtainable the fan base would be better off, I think adding points to the challenges would be good. I say that they should make everything obtainable by making it possible to get store credits through the pass and through challenges, it would make those who are dedicated happy and make those who are lazy pay to make themselves happy and allow for the employees to be happy by making money. The only problem is f2p makes I hard to make money without making most things unattainable.
For real man, if challenges dished out credits people wouldn’t feel forced to play challenges that make the game tedious to play. They’d be like “oh MAN did you see that new set in the armory? I’m gonna knock out some challenges so I can buy that at the end of the week”
Reward us for playing the game and reward us more for winning, and give us an avenue to purchase items we think are cool without asking us to open our wallets. (Assuming we get rid of challenges that is. Otherwise just give the currency for the challenge completions)
If this system was implemented and then 343 was like “Guys, we can’t keep the servers running. This f2p model is not recouping the costs to run the game (however true that is, I think they have more than enough revenue to keep the lights on for years after everything they’ve sold thus far, imo) we are going to sell a ‘supporter pack’ of content that you can purchase to help the development of the game”
People would buy that, just like they bought supporter packs for CoD.
It just seems so simple to me on what people like and dislike. I just do not understand. Definitely feels like a ‘too many chiefs’ situation going on.
How about the weekly challenge awarding an unlock token. The token would allow for the purchase of one item for free from the store. This removes the subjectivity of the weekly reward, while also lessening how heavy handed the store is in regards to forcing you to spend money. Additionally, this would require less UI work to be down and avoiding the pitfalls of the commendation system where some items just aren’t unlockable on account of the medal being situational ie Halo 4’s avenger medal requirement to unlock Blindside.
On a side note I think the challenges are another issue of note. I don’t play even when the reward is good, because the your almost guaranteed to get multiple bad challenges which will require the use of our limited challenge swaps. I think challenges should only award XP as they’re inherently unpleasant.
I don’t like the premise. I understand what he’s saying, he feels like the community is hard to please and often contradicts itself. However, I think the goal should always be to put out high quality content. If I were them, I would much prefer be accused of weaponizing FOMO because our content is consistently great over having lackluster rewards that leave players feeling inadequately incentivized to play the game, given the game is where his career is based and if it tanks he would have to find a new employer. My two cents.
That would be great!
Something like MCC would be ideal. As for the token, they could just have a “reward store” that has all of the the weekly items in a pool to pick from. and they each cost 100 cR. So you don’t even need the tokens.
Here we are on the official forum for the game so it’s nice to see the big questions being asked on Twitter instead of here.
As for answering the question it’s as if they can’t comprehend the idea of players being able to unlock things through gameplay at their own pace and/or choosing what items they earn progress towards. How is that not an obvious answer?
Don’t get me wrong it’s nice that someone is actually taking the time to ask the community what they want but the question shouldn’t need to be asked in the first place.
Which is weird since they made it very clear that player can choose what BP they want to progress toward at a time. So they seem to understand that to some degree.
It is because they WANT to weaponize FOMO, they just don’t want to appear as if they do.
Like, what would they lose from an ultimate store? Seriously…
All it would do is give players more incentive to hop back into the game to get stuff that they missed
The problem the with current system is the expectation that you play it like a day job.
You put in your hours, and then you log off until next week.
There is no sense that you’re working at your own pace for things you want to earn.
You have a SINGLE thing to earn every week,
If you already own it, why are you even going to play? There is nothing for you to earn.
If you don’t already own it, If you have 5-6 hours to play, you can earn it IN A SINGLE DAY, then you don’t need to play for the rest of the week.
If you don’t own it, but its a completely worthless item thats not worth having? Again, why bother playing.
There is nothing you want to earn.
All the currently available modes are extremely sweaty, there is no “just relax and shoot things” mode, because match making is overly tuned to be as tight and unfun as possible.
Where it is currently, there is nothing in the game worth sticking around for.
After the Battle Pass,
Playing for 1 Hour, will unlock just as much as playing 200 hours. You get nothing.
All you are at that point is content for other players,
You are a weekly challenge to be completed, you are the back smack that someone else needs, you are a passive game that they don’t need to win.
And you get rewarded for none of it.
If that isn’t the most depressing thing I’ve read this week…
It would be fine if you were a willing participant in it.
If Voice chat let you speak to everyone, and you could build up some comradery and have a back and forth, an exchange with the enemy team.
But ya can’t.
So the enemy team needs to go ruthlessly hard at all times,
Instead of being chill and asking for help with their challenges.
And this is why games, especially multiplayer games, need to prioritize social features.
They should make a loot pool. Simple.
That’s cross-core only on Canon items tho. They admitted that full customization in the same way as previous games may not be possible. I guess if the core Canon items are good enough then to most it’s more than enough, but I’m just not going to put up with a monkey’s paw situation. Somehow in 2022 asking for full customization seems like an unreasonable ask yet games from 10-15 years pulled it off no problem.
Infinite is a poorly designed game and I really just don’t think I’ll ever be happy with it.
They shouldn’t have built a multi-million dollar spagetti code engine in the first place.
No, they said that they are going to focus on getting helmets/chest pieces to work crosscore for canon.
Visors/coatings will be crosscore on everything and then helmets/chest pieces cannon crosscore, and then from then on we know nothing else
Nice post. Constructive too.
