If Infinite had shipped with co-op, I could have played it with my dad

I think that often the higher ups at 343 forget what it means to promise a feature, and what co-op means to people’s interpersonal relationships. I just want to share an example in the hopes that it helps 343 understand what it means to “erode trust.”

I was very lucky that late in life my dad took an interest in Halo, which I had been babbling to him about for over 20 years, since I was six. We played through the bungie games and he was curious about 4 and 5 but I told him not to get his hopes up about them, I knew the flashy art style and new mechanics would be too rough for him.

When Bonnie said Infinite would drop with Campaign co-op, I was so hopeful. I played the beta and was like “Dad, you’re gonna love this! Just wait until they release split-screen and we’ll play together.” In general, I went into Infinite feeling skeptical, but hopeful that it would be good, and I was so stoked to show my dad NEW Halo.

343 broke their promise, and my dad passed away from a terminal disease (which for some reason is censored here?) before split-screen co-op was released. Now it’s just canceled.

i was hoping to play it with my nephew, now we’ll just have to settle with the original games…

still hoping the backlash will somehow cause them to rethink. cus after all they lied for 7 years that all future halo games would have splitscreen.

to me that’s a massive w t f. how can they string us along for so long and then poof it’s gone.

and all because they want to focus on multiplayer. just another bs excuse in the long list of them…

sorry about your dad. sucks to lose a parent. sadly my dad didn’t like games so i wouldn’t of been able to play it with him.

Thank you.

I’m also hoping they’ll reconsider this. It’s too late for me already, the promise was broken (The promise was splitscreen at launch for all games moving forwards.)

At the very least they need to deliver their promise at SOME point. I won’t spend a dime until they do. (I played the campaign on game pass and was about to buy it, but now I’m not.)

i can sorta understand no splitscreen at launch because the game wasn’t finished and they decided to release it as early access (though didn’t call it that) which sucked but what could we do?

it’s delaying the feature constantly by putting at the back of everything else. in the TBD…

that pisses me off. like when they said it was on the backlog for pc mcc and then poof one day, gone.
