One of the most frustrating things in this game is when someone narrowly escapes from sprinting around a corner and the funny thing is you can’t chase him because once you do you are no longer shooting and since there is no shield penalty he gets to Regen his shields for free. So when you finally catch up he’s fully shielded.
What makes it even worse is when his teammates phases through him to switch off and then battle me. Enemy gets off Scot free while the other one gets a free kill.
The reverse happens as well. I’ll Sprint away. Hug the wall as tight as a I can and even tho I know I’m getting shot at I know I’ll make it because the Sprint allows me to.
There is WAY to much reengaging in this game. Way to many players slipping through the cracks because of Sprint and it’s honestly annoying.
Some will go like. “Oh why don’t you just go around”.
Well that’s the problem. Going around is just reengaging. Something that slows the entire game down. Something that rewards bad plays. I can’t even tell you how many times I saw someone commit to a battle and right at the last second they tuck their tail between their legs and run away
Edit:
Here is a few examples of what I’m talking about.

Go and compare the amount of people that run from combat in Halo Infinite compared to prior games.
Halo 5 was bad but at least your shield didn’t recharge…
Every sweat lord is so afraid of one death that they ruin the combat dance and make social games too serious. If someone gets the jump on you, engage and try to turn the tables. Fail? Just respawn and fight again. Halo Infinite is the worse Halo so far for this mechanic because the combined incentives push more people to try to flee or disengage. It breaks the combat dance and pushes it into an overly serious game you need to play hard all the time.
Because this mechanic makes the gameplay for newcomers less frustrating. Halo as F2P game is more depending on a big playerbase than a full-priced game, so they try everything to keep things as "noob-"friendly as possible.
The skilled players will suffer from this, but those players accept more frustrating things than newcomers before they will leave the game. And the sheer number of skilled players that are annoyed of this mechanic is way lower than the “casual” base.
Exactly. Halo 5 was the first and only Halo game that I liked Sprint in because of that no shield Regen feature. It’s the ONLY reason why I started playing Halo again.
Not only that but in halo 5 you were able to thrust slide to catch up to someone unlike the ring around the Rosie’s I experience with the Sprint.
I think a well balanced game is less frustrating. Idk how causal players are ok with this either. Imagine not being good at the game AND people get away with Sprint.
It’s sad that today’s games are being dumb down for causal players. There is no game left for competitive the minded. Literally every other game in existence has features like this to cater to the causals. I can’t wait until someone makes a truly challenging game again
We are getting old. It seems like the new generation of humans in generel cannot deal with negativity anymore.
There are so many examples for this:
Deaths in a game are taken personally
More and more games do not show deaths in the scoreboard
YouTube does not show dislikes anymore
Stories in every kind of media become more and more generic because no one is confident enough to do
something that is not familiar with actual trends…
Constructive criticisms leads more to toxic reactions
There are “positive only” threads in forums (smiley)
etc.
So nowadays people feel more like a badass because of cheap tricks to reduce negativity than thinking competitively and getting better.
I agree that the world is getting more “soft” by the day but can you elaborate more. I don’t see how this relates. Are you saying these things about me or another player or just in general.
Except it does make you move faster. When it comes to a corner, one step of the sprint will carry you farther than one step of walking. That’s why. No matter how slow the Sprint is. Itll always give you an advantage
You show me a visual example of someone using Infinite’s minimally impactful sprint in an advantageous way that you can’t counter through any other means and I’ll consider this a valid concern.
I am saying this in general. But “in general” affects the playerbase, too.
That is why I say, we are getting old, because younger generations in general are getting, how you call it, more “soft” and the older generation like us cannot understand it. We are not the target group anymore, so we can just hope, that the new target group wont accept these mediocre decisions.
Otherwise we have to keep playing MCC and H5 until the servers are shut down…
I enjoy having the regen during sprint. I played with that limitation on other Halos for so long I still forget it’s there and find myself stopping to let shields recharge. Maybe you are overthinking this too much?
As a M&K player, there is absolutely no incentive for me to stay and fight a 1v1 against a controller player. Since I don’t get the same amount of magnetism, it’s more advantageous for me to take a couple of pot shots and then run away and find my teammates.
