I’ve played a ton of Halo over the past few years. I’ve seen MM overlords come and go, and come again (NoF). With my experience I feel as if I have a pretty good idea of what other players want to see in the game, and I’d like to see what the community thinks of my ideas.
So here’s what my MM rotation would look like for Halo 4:
> Ranked FFA: 6-8 man free-for-all. 100% precision weapon start on Arena style maps. Slayer only.
> Ranked Team Slayer: 4v4. 100% precision weapon start on a variety of both Arena style and Vehicle oriented maps. Teams of 4 can only match other teams of 4. Teams of 3 can only match other teams of 3.
> Ranked Team Doubles: 2v2. 100% precision weapon start with a mix of slayer and objective. Parties of 2 can only match other parties of 2.
> Ranked Team Objective: 4v4. 100% precision weapon start with a mix of CTF and Oddball. Teams of 4 can also match teams of 3 to ensure quick matchmaking searches.
> Ranked Team Hardcore: 4v4. No radar on Arena style maps only. This will be replaced by MLG once their settings are released. Teams of 4 can only match other teams of 4.
> Ranked Team Snipers: 4v4 standard snipers with party restrictions.
> Ranked Team Swat: 4v4 standard swat with party restrictions.
> Ranked Big Team Battle: 8v8. 100% precision weapon starts on large scale maps. Trueskill restrictions are loosened and teams of 4+ can match each other.

> Social FFA Training: 6 man FFA playlist with AR starts for parties with at least one guest, or for players with under 50 experience.
> Social Team Training: 4v4 playlist with AR starts for parties with at least 1 guest, or for players with under 50 experience.
> Social Living Dead: Standard infection.
> Social Grifball: Standard Grifball.
> Social Action Sack: 4v4 with standard action sack gametypes.
> Social Multi-Team: 3v3v3v3. AR starts with a mix of slayer and objective.
> Social DLC: 5v5 on DLC maps. Party restrictions are implemented so parties of 5+ can only match other parties of 5+.
> Social Invasion: Standard invasion.
I’m sure some of you are wondering what’s going on with the lack of social playlist. Social is the worst thing to ever happen to casual players who choose to play Halo. It gives them an opportunity to match players way above their skill level, while ranked evens out the teams. If you’re a level 30 (or silver, or whatever equivalent exists in Reach) you’re going to find the most fun games at level 30, not in social slayer where you can match teams of 50s.
If you want to play social, you’re actually playing socially. Social as it was in H3 and as it is in Reach is just a place where players can play people way outside their skill level. It’s neither fun for the players getting annihilated, nor the players who are winning.
Feel free to critique my playlist setup, and provide suggestions to make it better for you.

The only ranked playlist where I would allow a single guest is Ranked BTB. The issue with you going 10-0 in social slayer, is that 10 other teams get losses. The other players are way under your skill level.
However you did give me the idea of a basic training playlist for guests and inexperienced players. So thank you for that.
> Your a Warrant Officer in Reach, and havent even played Halo 3. Ive played them all CE-Reach. I also have played over 30 days of Reach MP. If there was any kind of Multiplayer Overlord, you would definitely not be it.

I agree with this. I love close games. The type of games with a score of 48-50. However, 343 can manage to have more of those types of games the better off Halo will be.

<3 Team Training <3333
Well the thing i like about social is that if i’m playing with my girlfriend or someone else that’s not very good it’s usually good for them.
We’re all pretty decent players, and Halo 3 is pretty old now. When we play though we usually play against all kinds of people of different skill levels. Some games we’ll win 50-8, some we’ll win 50-49, and some we’ll get our -Yoinks!- handed to each other. Another reason i like it is because if i’m going to get ready to play some ranked, i’d like to warm up a little.

That’s why we need Halo 2’s -Yoink!- ranking system

It’s good to know other players are looking for close games. Thanks for your support.
> > Really. Oh man your sooooo gooooooood. I wish I were as goooood as you. Not. I would like to extend an apology to you, and hope for the best. But Ive seen too many people on here who think of themselves as better people, eventhough they havent even played H3. Sorry chum.

You wouldn’t get any complaints from me if it gave me games like that consistently. I am not sure if that is what 343 will do though. I just can’t see them copying and pasting something like that.
On a related note: OP has some interesting ideas. Let’s not get off track.
