If I dowloand halo 5 and mcc to the external hard drive does it make a difference?
Depends on the drive, and sometimes on the game.
Some games seem to load faster/have less texture pops with particular External drives, like with Solid State ones. Other than that, the difference is more space.
Nope. It shouldn’t make any difference
Should mate most external drives are 7200RPM as opposed to the snail 5400RPM internal, so a decrease in load times, texture pop in etc. You’ll also be taking some strain of the internal as it’ll just be left to deal with OS tasks.

But if you do not have the money for a SSD, then get a fast platter drive, or if you want to fork out a little more cash, a Solid State Hybrid Drive… From what I remember, Fallout 4 had an issue with stuttering, and installing the game on a 7200 RPM external platter drive improved it, because the 7200 RPM drive wrote and read data faster than whatever is in the Xbone.
