If I hear the term "egghead" again...

… I swear I’m going to plant a bomb in my -Yoink- and blow it in front of Frank O’Connor’s desk. Just kidding.

No, but seriously. One of the big mistakes 343 comitted was Spartan Ops’ lack of seriousness. Roland talking here and there bothering the entire missions is annoying. Also the stupid terms the princess Palmer and Miller use are unacceptable. Eggheads? WTF? This really pissed me off.

Also, Miller never stops from yelling “Crimson go here, Crimson do this, Crimson…” at you. Damn it! I’m sick of that. This is one of the main reasons why Spartan Ops failed (and sucked).

In Halo Reach, the Noble team never said any of these bad jokes (except Emile’s shovel). I mean, they are Spartans, the greatest Military soldiers of the UNSC, not some random students playing with Plasma grenades or camouflage.

So please, dear 343i, stop your bad jokes and focus on real Spartan missions in Halo 5: Guardians. Spartans are not kids, are enhanced human beings, and most importantly, are SUPER SOLDIERS!!

Palmer should be called an Egg head once and then we’ll never hear the term again.

If they do that than all will be forgiven in my book.

I can’t remember where I saw it, but it was likely in a scrapped content - Miller was doing his usual “Go there and do this, oh and wathc out for them aliens!” and Palmer promptly replied “Miller, we have to discuss you and your fascination with pointing out what’s shooting at Crimson…”

But yeah. Cut back on the stuff like that, and provide more unique SpOps objectives, and drop the infinite lives thing and it’d be much better. Less recycling of the same environments as well, though I personally didn’t see that as too big of a problem.

i’m going to say something. i’ll get hated & flamed for that, but i’m not doing it
because of this, but i’m actually indeed are a fan not only of the terms egghead & hingehead, but also of Palmer. I know i’m in the minority, i’m not going even to try to convince someone of anything, mostly because i’m probably the one who’s wrong, but i just think it had to be said. Palmer is my very own Full Metal -Yoink- & i hope she stays for a long time.

just my 2 cents.

It never really bothered me personally, but I can see why some people disliked or even hated it.

Palmer I actually kinda like, and I’m excited to see her develop as a character in Escalation.

Don’t misunderstand me. I don’t like Palmer, but I don’t hate her either… it’s just that 343 picked her as a poor replacement for a secondary character like Johnson or the Arbiter. She is nothing but a Samus Aran wannabe (the Metroid protagonist). I really hopes 343 removes her for the next game or develop her a little more, because at this point, is nothing but a filler character with no role to play except for advertising the “Spartan IV” project.

And her vocabulary is filled of “heads”… I hate that.

Well, Palmer is an arrogant person impatient for results. She believes the motivation way is to call people eggheads.
I don’t mind her. I tend to ignore dialog during combat in SpOps and concentrate on the plasma flying towards my face.

Palmer’s character and dialogue was awful. I’m not going to argue against that. Actually, to be honest, a lot of the dialogue in Spartan Ops felt unsettlingly unprofessional for a small army of Menschmaschinen. They can keep whoever’s currently writing the story, but cutscene and in-game dialogue could use a touch more… maturity.

That’s not to say we should have them cussing each other out like Gears, of course, but come on. We’re all adults here.

Honestly Miller doesn’t bug me all that much it’s “Princess Palmer” that bugs me. While its great to have a female badass I think Palmer’s character is trying WAY too hard. It does get really annoying when she continues to yell out these cheesy one liners or not so badass comments etc. I hope they improve on her personality if she does return in Halo 5:Guardians.

Eggheadphobes are typically closeted eggheads.

I like Palmer, especially in Escalation. She is pretty cool.
I like Miller, he seems like he is probably new but he is a good character to not make everything so dry and bleak.
I LOVE the term egghead.

But I also try not to nitpick or look for bad in stuff. Not to say all people here are doing that, but I just take what I am given in the story and find enjoyment out of it.

Egghead got old, but I don’t mind hingehead. I do wish there was more variety in enemy insults. Split-Chin, Split Jaw, Split Lip, Squid-Head, Alligators, come on Palmer get your insult game together!

Except, Palmer is a student playing with a crate full of sticks basically.

I hated her guts. Every time she (I) died when I was playing Spartan Assault, I cheered. And don’t tell me she was BA in a Halo novel or something because I don’t care. In the game her lines were awful, she was a boring and useless character, and it seemed was basically a puppet for Del Rio, who actually didn’t follow his orders.

Not to mention “eggheads”. Which, if anyone in the military ever used a word like that, they’d get stared at like they just gave birth to an alien. More Full Metal Jacket, less Green Army Men. If we’re even going to pretend to flirt with realism, let’s ditch the pathetic scripting. “Eggheads” just makes the Spartans seem like high school jocks that give atomic wedgies to kids who refuse to be their lab partner in biology.

Actually, I have to agree with this.

One line I enjoyed from the Headhunters short: “We got Apes or Gators?”

Reminds me of real military jargon.

i should begin the egghead riot against palmer for racial slurs.

I remember hearing a grunt in Halo 2 irritably shout “spoiler” whenever I entered a room.

Huh. Just huh.

Obviously we’re not if we can’t even have characters curse at appropriate times. We don’t need over the top stuff, but curse words are just words. If people can’t have that in their character’s dialogue then we’re all gonna have to deal with the crap we’re dealt with.

I’ve always found this to be one of the sillier complaints about the current Halo lore.

As if egghead isn’t a commonly used term in Sci-Fi and real life to poke fun at scientists and engineers…

But w.e. haters gonna hate.

I actually like Palmer and really don’t understand why she is so hated.
I don’t like her attitude sometimes, but that won’t make me think of her as a bad character

Yeah, how dare Palmer tell you to go there or do that, it’s not like she’s your commanding officer or something, oh wait…
