I mean, ultimately it doesn’t, but if they stuck with a f2p model they’d have to monetize far more of the game to pay for UE5 unless they just do it all at a loss. Keeping things the same would just further reduce 343’s actual profits (which are already far lower than microsoft had hoped for), this would also imply that they’ve learned very little from infinites failures lol.
Not at all.
People really seem to think ue costs the world when it dont and big partners like MS get preferential treatment or back end agreements from engine engineering.
When you have an engine that cant meet deadlines or implement base engine features while doubling production time
UE would be a net saving.
If ue was that expensive it wouldnt be Microsofts most used engine brim.
The majority of games under their publishing in active dev are on UE for a reason.
And no shortage of UE literate engineers.
Not even close. Infinite’s weapons suck. Most people hate half the weapons, especially Ravager, Bulldog, and Pulse Carbine. They should have kept Plasma Pistol as an EMP weapon. Halo 5 had waaaaaaayyyyy more weapons and vehicles. Infinite’s sandbox is far inferior to all other Halo games, even 4. The Energy Sword and Gravity Hammer are also a shell of their former selves. The new EMP weapons are too easy to use, to where you might even call them OP. It makes flying and driving a hassle, being constantly EMPd.
Trash maps. 3 lanes with a middle split. They all play the same.
Widely disagreed by almost everybody. Grappleshot and Repulsor are neat, but that’s it. 3 and Reach had better equipment. Even Halo Online had better equipment. Grappleshot is why Chief almost died in space in the Campaign. Jetpack was objectively better. Almost everyone misses bubble shield.
I’m not a fan of the outlines, but I am a fan of having customization instead of RvB, but I wish they did it more like Destiny where you see enemy names when you look at them, instead of always glowing.
Trash faux open world on a mostly empty small island 1/8 the size of a GTA map with hardly any content, and half the campaign content cut. Almost all of the map is empty wasted space and hexagons. Most vehicles can’t traverse it. You basically spam Grapple the whole time or use a Wasp/Banshee to go everywhere. Least Halo experience and the worst Halo Campaign ever.
Best Forge, sure, but it’s still a scuffed Forge. I hope they improve it a lot. I saw a guy making a 3rd party tool in Blender to make maps much faster and more efficiently outside of the game, since placing blocks one block at a time in the game sucks. It’s like how people use 3rd party tools to quickly craft impressive Minecraft maps, instead of editing the maps one block at a time placed manually.
Yeah no, please abandon a decent chunk of Infinites gameplay.
Please abandon:
- The awful sandbox, I genuinely don’t understand what anyone could see in it.
*The god awful reticle bloom, it was trash in Reach and its trash now.
*Sprint, clamber and slide, good lord is slide a plague in not just Infinite but across the FPS space.
*High aim assist and magnetism
*Scope glint
*ADS on all weapons, especially the close range weapons you can’t descope
*Headshot damage on all weapons
*The awful chip damage system that’s plagued the franchise since Reach.
*The worst handling vehicles in the series.
*The empty soulless open world
*The coating system and outlines and return to RVB
*The Fee2Pay model
*Garbage bullet sponge bosses and mini bosses.
*Forced auto starts in social and BTB, auto starts should not be in BTB period.
*Ditch no player collision.
*Hitmarkers, especially grenade hitmarkers.
*Changing gametypes like Oddball and KOTH for no reason.
*The stupid chest thumping power ups
*The constant obnoxious chirps and pops drowning out the better parts of the audio.
I’m sure I could probably list more, but long story short I can’t take anyone seriously who is still parroting “but the core gameplay is good”. Its Halo 5 lite, with its own unique brand of new and classic terrible thrown in.
About the only thing I can appreciate in this game over past games in the implementation of Equipment/armor abilities as limited pickups and otherwise some holdovers like the odd good gametype like Strongholds, seat switching, and the faster base movement.
I wouldn’t say Halo Infinite’s sandbox is superior it’s okay for one thing classic weapons need to return for example the shotgun that could hold 12 rounds in the tube and you can carry 60 extra for and did more damage than any of the other shotguns in the Halo Series remember that one. Also what about the Sniper Rifle and Needler their ammo capacity stinks in Halo Infinite bring back the ammo capacity from Halo CE.
Basically the ammo capacity and damage from all the Halo CE weapons needs to return because that seems to be when it was the best and then it went to hell in later games
