If Halo 5 would be like Halo 1-3

If Halo 5 would be made like Halo 1-3, it would be a lot more productive. With better maps, balanced weapons, and original Halo-styled jump height and speed, updated Forge, a dynamic and clear campaign experience, and a good, flourishing custom games community, this game would surely be the absolute best of its time. (Especially with all the enhanced features!)((This DOESN’T mean ‘modernization’ of the game. It means alterations that don’t affect gameplay, i.e service reports, better forge/custom game options, more armor, more color schemes, etc.))

NOTE: This is just a statement of my opinion.

What do you all think? Would the next Halo title be better if it was modeled more by Halo 1-3, or do you think that Halo should continue to, said by 343, ‘modernize’ or ‘advance’?

Discuss.

If halo 5 is like reach/4 then halo has no shot at retaking the fps king title.

> If halo 5 is like reach/4 then halo has no shot at retaking the fps king title.

In my honest opinion yes halo 5 would be a million times better than reach/4 if it was like what you described.

I seriously haven’t spoken with a single person outside of these forums who likes what’s happened to it.

…except for maybe that one Gamestop employee. That made it 9 to his 1.

So yeah. Better off not going with quick-kill-times, and killstreaks/perks/etc., AA’s, an overly-serious tone (NOT saying storyline, just some humor like before, Grunt-talk, goofy-Elite-screams, etc.) and so on. …and so on.

343i made it very clear where this franchise is headed.

They’re in to deep to turn back to classic Halo now, I wish they would, but they won’t… I’ll happily bet money on that.

Halo 5 and 6 will be worlds apart from what I once called Halo. People around here are so obsessed with this game needing to evolve, and that’s exactly what 343i are planning to do.

The class system, ordnance, armour abilities, perks and gun customisation will hit whole new heights with the new Halos, and then all those who flamed players for feeling neglected by 343i for doing this to Halo will know what it felt like for us, and the new fanbase will then assault you for voicing your concerns.

i agree 100% that halo should go back to halo 1-3 for the simple reason that where halo is heading its not going to be a good time. i played reach for a total of 12 hours or so and sold it but im giving 4 a chance. yes i like 4 but halo really needs to go back to the way everything was during 3. i say hands down halo 3 campaign and multiplayer was the best

maybe they are pulling a coca-cola and changing their product for the worst just to change it back to the original in the future and come back even stronger than before! but in reality we’re just gonna get a Reach 3 with halo 5 :frowning:

Fans, for better or worse, love to live in the past.

Games must adapt over time, or die! Simple as that.

I chose Modernize for my vote, if for no other reason: Halo 4 has the best control scheme out of all the Halos in the original trilogy

I think a 3-Reach combo would work really well.

one question. would this mean we have to get rid of assassinatons simply because it started in halo reach?.

> I think a 3-Reach combo would work really well.

I agree happy medium

Halo 5 should be the sequel to CE, Halo 2, and Halo 3, not the sequel to Reach and Halo 4.

Halo 4 has a closer formula to what it needs to have to do well.
To everyone obsessing about Halo taking the XBL “king” title, it’s not going to happen if H5 is like 2/3… because both of those games were raped up the butt by CoD… so was Reach. Halo 4 is a little closer to where we need to be… btw CoD will always remain the king, it doesn’t matter what 343 does, you cannot shake a stubborn unskilled fanbase.

So you’re not asking for Halo 5, you want Halo 3 anniversary.

I’d prefer the series not take a step backwards because a few oldbies get misty over the nostalgia of games that weren’t as great as they remember.

That’s coming from a 29 year old man who’s been playing the series since launch day of the original Xbox console.

Call of Duty has been virtually the same game since MW1, and it is far from dying. It stays fresh by changing a few things around while keeping the same core formula. Some people actually like knowing they are going to get the same familiar experience in the next title as they have in the past, because sometimes that experience is fun no matter what. Not flaming, I’m just saying.

actually neither of those games were raped by cod, but i do agree cod will remain the king

Im in a very similar boat and i agree 100%
They cannot bring those feelings back, i just dont understand why they think they can

  1. EXPAND upon Forge.
Bungie left us with an amazing Forge, and all 343 did was add a couple of upgrades. Granted they only had like two years to work on it, but still. What if we got more details, like dead bodies, blood, etc.? What if we got the Forge to end all Forge?

  2. Get rid of Spartan Ops, bring back and expand upon Firefight.
Spartan Ops is absolutely not a worthy successor to Firefight. It’s like something someone makes for a mod. Take an existing environment, put some enemies in it, and script it. Done. It’s not worth it.
Bring back Firefight, and add a ton more options to it. Make a Flood mode, add AI allies, and possibly give it a Forge! That would be incredible. But most importantly, return it to ODST style, not Reach style (survival>points).

  3. Make Theater mode better.
Halo pioneered Theater mode, but then Call of Duty did it better. Now Halo needs to get back ahead.

  4. Halo 2/3 Elements
Bring back dual-wielding and equipment. These two aspects were HUGE at the time, but now are just forgotten. Why? Bring them back!

The amount of times i’ve seen a stupid post like that, it just makes me think 50% of forum members have absolutely no -Yoinking!- idea what hey are talking about.
