If Halo 5 is so good.....

Full disclosure I have not played Halo 5. I am not buying it out of principal because they removed offline support and removed splitscreen.

My question is, if Halo 5 is so good, why do I constantly see people wanting assets from the old games? I mean its quite often I see this. If Halo needs to evolve then why do people want assets from the old game? This is a serious question and not meant to start 343 bashing.

Because old stuff is good stuff?

The main problem is that most people don’t like sprint and the other Spartan abilities.

To sum it up concisely?

Because nostalgia.

I don’t think its that all the time, for me, I want old modes to return that are not present, its nothing to do with the game itself, but the lack of casual modes given to us.

People have been asking for stuff from previous Halo games in new Halo games ever since there have been sequels. This is nothing new.

Just like regular life, people complain more than give praise.

For me, Halo is good multiplayer wise, as in, I actually like the new mechanics except not the unnecessary changes to the aiming system.

The reason why I don’t play it every night for hours on end like I il did nin past Halo’s, is because the lack of variety. The lack of game modes and play lists. I am OK with the maps situation. It is what it is, and there’s a decent amount to add varie when the system works. But playing Slayer, Strongholds, and CTF over and over and over again, in BTB, for example, gets old quick. Especially when you know the game modes are therefore, just not in the game permanently. How hard is it to make a Action Sack/BTB Objectives play list?

So for now, I’m waiting to see how Warzone Firefight ends up as I LOVE Co-op modes like it. If I enjoy it as much as I hope, I will start a WZ Firefight Spartan Company and we’ll play it along with Customs, Campaign, BTB, AND Warzone of course.

I would like to add on that.
Because INFECTION.

I love Halo 5, its my most played game on the One, but there is no denying that 343 as ignored the casual fanbase, not giving us modes that were in past Halos. Halo 5 is missing so many modes, and its fine that they weren’t there at launch, they want to make sure the game is smooth after MCC, fine, but then 5 months later and all we have gotten are 3 modes 3? grifball, BTB and one playlist where we have rotating modes? Halo 4 and reach had so many modes, and Halo 5 has like 1/4 of that.

Because we got half a game at launch that was missing a lot of game modes and permanent social playlists. Additionally, spartan abilities have also led to some hideous maps, so that has bothered a good portion of the community.

If you are not going to buy it nor play it then why does it matter to you?

Either way I will try to explain it for you.

People always want more and most do not understand limitations on the game based around things like disc memory and time.

This combined with nostalgia have generated much entitlement. Though some game modes which should have been there i****n my opinion are absent. But this is okay as long as they are improving them like they did with assault.

They will ask for H5 stuff in 3 games from now. I guarantee it.

Obviously you care about Halo. Pick up a cheap disc and go play some!

I think its because Halo 1-3 is what Halo was, the Halos after deliberately distanced themselves from what Halo originally was. People just miss the game they were first attracted to.

I just see it everywhere in this forum. Just look at the first 20 posts. Some people say halo needs to evolve and then want everything from past Halos in the game. As a concerned Halo fan, in the direction 343 is taking the series, im just trying to get an understanding of this.

Because the older games was better?

Better than Halo 5 at least

Well this might be because the people that dislike the game are trying to make their voices heard, while the majority that enjoys it couldn’t care less and just plays the game. It’s just bias, the majority is ok with Halo 5.

H5 IS a good game. But nobody will EVER make EVERYONE happy, so no matter what 343i does, somebody somewhere is gonna have a gripe with this game. I have plenty of gripes, mostly surrounding the campaign story and structure, but am a big fan of the overall gameplay and the mechanics (yes, that includes sprint/abilities. Definitely the most satisfying changes made to the game and are changes that ultimately have worked a lot better than most previous iterations.)

I totally get your policy of not buying the game because they took off those offline and split screen features. I think 343i/MSFT need to be petitioned to keep those things available in the game. Obviously if you buy it digitally from XBL you really have no kit coming because then you’re REQUIRED to be online to access the game files. But overall I agree, making a game online only is a mistake, especially one that’s been around as long as Halo.

Well considering they didn’t even replace any of the “old stuff” with new stuff they just simply left out a bunch of content so people just want content and it might as well be stuff were familiar with
