If Halo 4 really is Grand in Scope and Scale...

1.Do you want Sprint in the Campaign? I mean forget multiplayer, the majority of the hate against sprint is multiplayer related.

Would you like it in the Campaign, making going through the levels less of a Sunday Jog?

Sure, there would be vehicle sections, but you can’t always rely on them.

  1. Do you want longer range weapons? E.G. Gauss Sniper Rifle etc

  2. Do you want a linear Campaign or a more sandbox type Campaign?

  1. Yes but not in the way sprint is. I don’t understand why a genetically modified soldier trained from the age of 6 can’t run longer than 4 seconds. What I think of as a way to travel fast but not have sprint would be to hold down LS and LT and in this mode you accelerate until you reach maximum speed (olympic sprinter speed) where you can run for about 100-200m until you slow down to normal speed and wait for your energy to come back up.

  2. Yes. But if there is a Gauss Sniper Rifle then it CANNOT be in multiplayer.

  3. Sandbox! That’s what made Halo:CE so good. The huge scale of the enviroment gave you so many options. And in a video game, more options always equals a happier player. And while I enjoyed Halo 3’s huge scale battles with Hornets and Scarabs and Wraiths but I also want some time to just walk around and smell the flowers. A good example would be the level Halo in CE where you had time to walk or drive around and be constantly getting shot at. In my opion, it would add a lot of exploration to the game which I felt I got none of in Reach’s campaign.

What I would really enjoy from the campaign is just a really large appreciation for the scenario.

Ive been playing alot of RPS’s lately like “RAGE” and “Borderlands” and while there are very few ways to compare the games, what I really liked from them was the moments in between large and hectic firefights where you wander almost aimlessly around a seemingly endless landscape and just take in the view. The backdrops and skyboxes that the games can produce infused with the sense of tranquility of no one being around besides you just makes a moment of bliss that can very seldom be found in most games.

In all reality, whether or not the UNSC and Covenant are in the game there should be several moments where we find the Chief all alone on a huge, unknown land just trying to find his next destination.

I guess all in all, I really just want a good amount of focus on his loneliness and a great deal of work on the environment around him via greater and farther backdrops, variations of weather and really intense lighting. When it all boils away, atmosphere always sucks you in the best.

  1. Make it a skull effect. Including it by default means most if not all speedruns will utilize it. I want to see classic speedruns, the ones where players had to pick up speed through various tricks and tactics.

  2. Yes. I’d also like vehicles to be in first person so that I could utilize my binoculars or something similar. Just imagine sitting behind the Wraith: dark surrounding with a screen in front of you. And then zooming in. I mean, how the heck can Wraith pilots see so far?

  3. Sandbox. I’ve seen enough of linear. It cripples replayability and plays out too much like other fps games. Encounters should be enjoyable enough for one to revert and play it out again.

  1. Not so much.

  2. If it fits the type of environments in the game.

  3. Some levels should be more epic and scripted while most of the campaign should play like (for instance) The Ark from Halo 3, where you can approach it through multiple situations, take different vehicles, use different weapons and generally adding to the replayablilty.

Campaign sprint, well I see how it could be useful for a faster pace of the game, but I think it would take away from certain areas or battles. For instance, I’m not a supporter for this ability when all you have to do is run past your enemies instead of thinking strategically of how to conquer them. Also, slowing the pace makes myself feel closer to the environment and all the inhabitants in them.

1.) It’s not a MUST, but i’d say rather “yes” than “no”, since i’m used to sprint from about every other game. (including MP!)

2.) I don’t see any need for that.

3.) a good mix of both. like H3:ODST
