Introduction
I would like to start with this video that someone posted yesterday on here. Warning Mature Language
This video really gave me a new perspective to look at our current situation.
Several Groups, Several Opinions
So if I had to summarize the current opinions of the Halo Community (Not Just Waypoint) based on the latest news on Halo I would have split it like this.
- 75% Do not like the changes proposed and want radical change
- 15% Want to wait until release to see the finished product
- 10% Like the changes, or are mildly skeptical
Not jumping to conclusions but a little predicting
So we all know Halo 4 is to be released on the Xbox 360 however by the time Halo 5 is to be released I guarantee as a developer myself the game will only support the new Hardware.
IF Halo 4 flops it will be the second failure in a row, hardcore, longtime and competitive players will not bother forking out $500 (£400) for new hardware for Halo 5 if they have no faith that it will be any good. The only reason people bought Halo 3 and 360’s for Halo 3 was because Halo 2 was a knock out.
…and there is no chance of the super casual players paying that much for a console just for Halo. This also makes waiting to see how the game turns out just dumb.
Mutiplayer must have a skill gap, and 343 must listen and meet the competitive players and hardcore fans “half way” if they want a successful game
Halo 4 must please the old school Halo fans, the hardcore Halo die-hards and the Competitive/MLG community over every other player. These are the players who will pay and spend near limitless amounts of money on consoles and games.
Why do people buy Halo?
You may not agree with everything I say above, yet you might agree with this. “The number one reason people buy Halo games is because it’s Halo, every little detail, every single aspect or change has to potential to change the game and make it “not halo” 343 need to be careful and they are already standing on thin ice”.
