Lets be honest here, in terms of a Halo game,Reach was a failure. It sold about half as many copies as H3 and the population plummeted soon after release. Not to mention it has been completely given up on by the competitive community (the community that made halo what it is). If Halo 4 follows the same pattern as Reach, with less units sold and even less people who play it after the first month, what do you think 343 will do with halo 5? Do you think they will make an actual halo game?
Halo 4 won’t be a failure.
Halo Reach was a good game. It might appear to be a failure when you compare it to Halo 3.
Incorrect. Halo: Reach actually outsold Halo 3 on day one by a $30 million dollar margin. If you don’t believe me then you can google that part yourself.
As for Sales Numbers, that’s incorrect as well.
Regardless, often a games sales are not a true image of their quality. Take Call of Duty for example, those games have a large fanbase. But most of those fans (myself included) have abandoned it due to it being the same game over and over. COD still makes millions regardless of it being terrible.
As for what else you are saying, correct, the population did plummet and rightly so. The game was hideously broken and Bungie refused to fix it. This led to more people leaving the game early and most of those people haven’t even come back.
If Halo 4 does follow this pattern and to be honest I personally can’t see it happening then yes, for me Halo will be dead and I will be gone.
Like the CoD series I used to put down my money for quality, but if I’m not getting any of that then you aren’t getting any of my paper. Simple as.
It won’t fail! This is the Halo franchise, it cannot and will not fail!

You’ve spent the majority of you’re halo reach games grifball boosting. Your opinion is completely invalid.
Reach isn’t a bad game, if you compare it to other shooters. That alone makes it a great one.
And honestly, the sales are actually tremendous! Nearly 9 million copies to date, Halo 3 has nearly 12 million. Besides that, Reach didn’t have as much time to sell as Halo 3:
Halo 3 to Halo Reach = 2007 to 2010
Halo Reach to Halo 4 = 2010 to 2012
And a top of that, Halo 3 had easier circumstances. There were no big competitors. 2009 Modern Warfare 2 was released, and even though (in my opinion) the game is totally crap, it -Yoinked!- up the whole game industry (in a negative way). And then comes Black Ops, Modern Warfare 3 and so on.
Conclusion: Halo Reach was a great game, well done Bungie!
343 will show them who’s boss!

I agree, I HATE what 343i has done with Halo: 4 so far! I hope the campaign will not be near as bad as Halo: Reach’s was story line was.

Lets be honest here, youre lying and your numbers are false.
Reach was a success by any metric other than “what do the forums say”. End of.

People may have bought reach, but the number that kept playing it is embarrassing compared to previous halos.

Also, lolbronze.
Reach was an insult to CE. That alone made it a failure.
H4 on the other hand is not intended as a return to CE gameplay so I can’t judge it as strictly.
Ace, I agree with you, but you come off as a -Yoink!- with the stat flaming.
Just a warning, your posts will be censored.

I was talking about the color Bronze you know…
‘The Fail of Reach’ is not measured in $$ but in the MOLESTATION of the Halo formula.
IF you don’t understand this, then go get some gerber…

Lolreported.
Reach has been a failure in terms of the longevity of the Halo brand. They might have sold close to 9M units, but they have a population of less than 100K at any given time.
Reach has also lost the competitive community. When Halo 3 was out it was the main reason to watch an MLG event (they even had enough popularity to have crossover ESPN Halo 3 Top Ten Plays). Currently Reach isn’t even scheduled as part of the spring MLG tour.
Finally, the population has plummeted for Reach. Halo 3 held the top spot (or second some weeks) on the most played Xbox Live games for 3 years after launch. Reach can’t even break into the top 5 and hasn’t been in the top 3 since the first few months it was launched.
To say that Reach was a “success” is acceptable if your ONLY metric of success is profit from initial sales. In all other avenues Reach has dropped off a cliff compared to other Halo games.
I don’t believe that Halo 4 will fail. I do believe that there will be things within the game that will anger some people, but what game doesn’t?
PS: I’d keep the flaming on the down low, or imminent lock inbound.
How come whenever somebody likes to “qoute” statistics they always just pull them out of their butt?
