If Halo 3 outdoes Halo 5 being BC

Not saying that it will or it won’t, BUT what if it does. it’s been a very heated debate ever since Reach. it’s split the community in two literally. But what if it says something to both 343 and the community that keeping that classic formula can be a good thing. Now I’m not going to directly quote Greenskull on this…

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a clip of Halo 3 get that much attention. But what if this only proves that Halo 5’s formula isn’t really what some people want? We’re starting to see games go back to their roots such as BF1 and COD WW2. So what if Halo 6’s formula was a bit closer to Halo 3’s? What portion of the Halo community would be happy about it? How many players would it attract back to the franchise? To be honest, people have mentioned that they’ve left Halo because it doesn’t feel like the old. Halo’s fallen off the short path, and theres no covering that up. Halo 5 is very much played, it’s still a succesful game, however to many it’s not a successful Halo game. Hell the only time Halo is even viewed anymore, on streaming platforms such as Twitch, is when HCS is going on. It’s fallen off the plate as an Esport, it’s not as much spoken about as other FPS’s are as far as FPS’s are concerned. So in the scenerio that Halo 3 being BC with Xbox One ends up outplaying Halo 5, could something, that this is really what the fans want. Games for Gold gave Halo 3 a good run for the time it lasted, Repopulate Halo 3 had once again gone live, and it was twice that it had happened, if I remember correctly. For all we know, Halo 3 could make a comeback on XBL, it could overtake Halo 5, and it could not.

All I’m really asking is for 343, but not only 343, but the Halo comunity to take note of what could be come September. I love Halo 5, but I also loved Halo 3, as a good number of people did. This could be a one chance thing for a lot of the community to tell 343 what it really wants, and the long time fans that may still like Halo 3 but not Halo 5 to also up their voices.

Just putting this out there, because hey it could happen.

I don’t think it will. H3 was awesome in it’s day but has aged the absolute worse out of all the Halo games IMO. It just doesn’t play well at all now. H2 and even HCE plays better then it does. I am glad they are bringing backwards compatibility to H3 so hopefully now I can get H2 and HCE games in btb in MCC without having to be on a large enough team to swing the vote.

I’m afraid I’d have to agree with this sentiment. I enjoyed Halo 3 well enough when it came out. But after Halo Reach came out, Halo 3 became my least favorite of the Halos to replay. And it’s still that way today. I’d play Halo 4 or Halo 2 before playing Halo 3.
Of course, opinions will vary as they often do :wink:
