If forge needs internet connection then...

If forge needs internet connection then does this basically support the idea of forge being tied to the cloud. This would mean that the game can handle more data(in simple terms) which would allow us to forge a ridiculous amount more and of better detail.

Yea but the catch is its the cloud its not exactly reliable.

But even if it has a few hiccups, the cloud can enhance online gaming beyond our wildest dreams. Think of it, cloud could allow not 1000 blacks, but 1,000,000.

Blocks, but yea just don’t depend on the cloud. It would be great if its able to give us all sorts of stuff to work with multiple forge canvas, multiple forge worlds, different texture skins on blocks like covy themed, forerunner and human themes. One can only hope just keep ur expectations low so that gets you hyped when they finally reveal forge.

If Forge needed an internet connection, and my internet went out randomly like it always does, and kicked me to the main menu with my progress lost, then I would want to break my console and rage about it on the forums. lol… I say super NO to Forge ever requiring internet connection in any Halo. Forge is my offline haven during storms too.

Those are a lot of blacks. Sorry I had to.

Why? WHHYY!!?

They have not confirmed online only for forge when not playing with others, far from it in fact. All that was said is you will need online for multiplayer features (because of a very poorly worded question) which is a given. Right now we have no more information than we did before the question was asked. Just wait and see what happens before jumping to conclusions.

DW. My bad jokes are way worse…
anyone who has seen them would know what I am talking about

They could have easily said “you don’t need an internet connection to use forge”. And be done with it. But that didn’t happen. So it’s obvious what the reality is.

Yeah they need a redundancy system incase you lose connection, perhaps a limited forge should be enabled for offline use. If everything is connected to the cloud I would imagine the serves constantly store your data to the cloud anyway incase you lose connection and be ready and waiting for when you come back.

I wonder if maybe forge can still be done offline but the catch is that you can’t play it online with friends. That would be a slight annoyance.

Exactly, did you see what Crackdown was able to accomplish with cloud, I imagine forge will greatly benefit from this.

AI in forge, perhaps?
We could make our own campaigns. It would also be a machinema maker’s dream.

This. Xbox Live, the cloud, and our internet are all subject to outages. Sounds like if any 1 of those 3 goes out then you lose your progress and can’t save your map. They need some sort of auto save feature that saves every 5 minutes in case that happens.

I have high expectations. I don’t buy into this “keep your expectations low” talk that people are talking about. You can have high expectations and still react in a mature way when you are disappointed.

It’s cool to hear stuff like this. I’m not a techy kind of guy and am weary about the cloud, but I’ve heard a lot of people say stuff like this. It’s reassuring.

I didn’t think of this, but that does sound quite cool. As the whole budget system is really annoying

Well then when they are taking away things or not improving on stuff we would like to see you should have high expectations and eventually get over it.

As a general rule, I expect the worst because it makes life simpler. But we’re talking about video games here. If the worst thing that happens to you in October is a disappointing video game, then you’re having a pretty sweet month.
I surrender to video game hype. It’s fun. It’s like how the month of December seems to last an eternity when you’re a kid because you’re so anxious for xmas. If the game disappoints: oh well. I’m very good at managing disappointment–especially over something as unimportant as video games, even if it is my favorite franchise. Halo 4 is proof of that, but more recently it’s Destiny. I was hyped a year out before release. Played it for a couple of weeks and realized it wasn’t for me. Shrugged it off and moved on.
