If Flood are in Halo 4, please do them right 343i!

I know this will more than likely be a controversial topic regarding the Flood, as i know many, many forum goers and halo players alike hate the Flood.

I for one, am not one of them. I feel that it is not Halo without the Flood, yes, Reach and ODST’s were nice additions-but these were spinoffs. The main Halo trilogies follow the cheif and his battle across the galaxy, to date there hasn’t been a Cheif game without the Flood.

Now, i feel that the Flood neds some nice changes (asthetically) for the new trilogy. I feel the combat forms in Anniversary realy nailed the look head on, not too gorey, but scary enough when faced alone, in a dark room, at midnight

What i mean to change is a problem that was from Halo 3: revived human and elite and brute corpses changed colour when resurected. A simple fix, but one that may require new skins for each enemy.

Example (human):

  1. Ship Crew flood
  2. Standard marine flood
  3. Sgt. marine flood
  4. ODST flood
  5. Malitia flood/innie flood

Five skins, much more variety when faced with them. some could be tougher than the others:
ODST > Sgt. > Standard > Malitia > Crewmen

Example (elite):

  1. Blue elite minor flood
  2. Red elite major
  3. White Ultra flood
  4. Gold Zealot flood
  5. Black spec ops flood

(or whatever the new colour system is for the new game)
Again, some would be tougher than others:
Gold Zealot > White Ultra > Black spec ops > Red major > Blue minor

The same would apply to brutes as well, but i can’t think of all the ranks now, but imagine an infected hammer cheiftan?

Just a small way to change the way flood plays, instead of just giving some elites sheilds.

What do you think, people of Waypoint?

PS. did you actually like Pure forms? i felt as if they ruined the flood with them, i hope that the “evolved ones” all got destroyed on the replacement ring and Earth.

Thanks people!

If the flood appears in Halo 4 I will be surprised… considering they were annihilated at the end of Halo 3. And EVEN if they were not, I’m tired of the… Doo Dee Doo Dee Doo… THE FLOOD APPEAR Campaign structure. It worked great for the first Trilogy, now we need to see something new and exciting.

Only 1 flood infection was destroyed at the Battle of the Ark. Every Halo ring still has flood samples on it, and the flood are extra-galactic in origin, meaning more can show up at any time without warning.

Look at Halo Wars. Spirit of Fire stumbled on a major flood infection in the shield world they found, and wiped it out. Yet, there were more flood on Alpha and Delta Halo.

You can’t possibly believe that the flood is annihilated, can you!?

For starters, we don’t know where the flood covenant ship was in halo 3 before heading to earth, neither with high charity, and the gravemind wouldn’t have been stupid enought NOT to leave some flood behind to infect other places.

There is samples of flood on every Halo ring. ONI have Installation 03, with 4 other rings unaccounted for. and it was from deep uncharted space anyway.

not to mention that it was made by precursors anyway, so if they are back, and if i remember they said the flood would rise again in just over 100,000 years. which would place it around Halo 4.

The flood is far from being over with, remember many new gamers will be trying Halo 4 and the sequels, and lots may not even know what it is.

EDIT: ninja’d

Great idea but I would like to add something… Imagine a Hunter what is infected like the ultimate flood enemy , you know ?

abilities like a flood ( jumping and so on )

strength and resistance like a hunter

what do you think ?

Did you not see the HUGE Forerunner structure the Chief was entering in the Halo 4 trailer. I would be very surprised if the flood made there way into that, and very upset if they did.

Halo 4 is the chance to create some wonderful new forerunner enemies (or friends) and I for one don’t want ANOTHER minor inconvenience created by the flood.

there needs to be a ton of them and more zombie like, (like in halo one)and the game needs to come with a diaper for easy clean up after playing a flood mission…then it would be okay

Good idea, but unfortunately it’s not possible in the halo world. Hunters are, after all, just a huge collection of worms, without a proper skeleton. so the flood could not infect them.

Hey what about the Legolo worms as an enemy in the world? they eat through forerunner materials, and after being there for such a long time they might have become vicious?

if the flood return i hope they are just a secondary enemy, i’m hoping the new main enemy is very technologically advanced

Yes. It’s unfortunately true that’s why it is just a wish…

Primordium Spoilers

“In a thousand centuries, we will return and humanity will again be judged”

–The Primordial, last living Precursor and one of the first Graveminds virtually stating the enemy in the game: Flood and Precursors.

Whose to say the Flood can’t have evolved? That’s pretty much what they do; from a structural standpoint, they’re the perfect enemy in that they can adapt to anything. You are literally free to create whatever you want with them.

That isn’t to say Forerunners won’t be involved

Primordium pretty much says they will be.But the Flood are important to the story.

I hope 343 considers Half Flood. There’s way more potential with them then an army of slow, half-witted, easily destroyed, crazy leaping monsters that can only overwhelm Hunters on Easy.

If only the half Flood had appeared on Floodgate. Would have contributed to the atmosphere better than the tiresome, “it’s a Flood ambush! Oh noes!”

Also consider Forerunner half Flood. Live Elites that become half Flood have their shield recharge rate modified so it is extremely fast, 3-4 times faster than H2 Stealth Elites. But on lower difficulties and in some cases (I call these imperfect. It might have been because they were already weakened beforehand from a grenade stick), if you headshot them right after the stuck grenade explodes, they can die. Now imagine Forerunners with that. Horrific! You’d have to get a headshot immediately after they lose their shields.

Half Flood would also add realism because in the games, marines can immediately tell who is an enemy. Half Flood would add confusion so they can’t tell which marine is infected and such. I.e. Elite responses to a fellow Elite being infected With a little tweaking, the friendly AI would recognize it as an enemy after it attacks them.

Finally, they would be used as vehicle pilots and heavy weapon specialists, the equivalent of Heavy Grunts. Flood look awkward when they drive and they can’t fire the laser or beam rifle. These would take their place.

How about Flood adorned in fallen Hunter armor? When one shoots the Hunter in his flesh, the worms come out then disappear. So if the Hunter dies, what happens to the worms? :S

Let’s look at some marine life. Snails. The shell becomes reusable for critters like hermit crabs.

They need serious improvements. They’re too damage spongy. I say that canon should identify the Pure Forms seen in Halo 3 as only first stage “evolution”.

Second stage should make them faster, more humanoid, and less resilient.

Third stage should allow them to have linked fov so they can coordinate attacks and they could interchange between form at will.

Fourth stage should allow them to manipulate their size and structure. Imagine bigger Tank Forms with ranged form cannons on their shoulders and the legs of Stalker Forms. So it would look like a centaur + scorpion.

Finally, I want to see Juggernauts.

I don’t really want flood in Halo 4, time for a change of enemy for now IMO.

I think the purpose of the flood was to give us something to be terrified of. If you think about it the flood are this supposed unstoppable force that destroys everything in its path. That to me, is what makes the halo games more interesting (not excluding the fact that having only two destructive forces such as the covenant and the humans was simply boring, but still fun at the same time). To me, having the flood in Halo 4 would be great, and if there not then what can I do about, it’s not like I’m the game creator or anything. I think Halo 4 will be great no matter what 343i puts into it, they obviously want to keep it hidden to surprise us when they deem necessary. So, hold on to your seat, and enjoy the ride!

I agree with all the different forms which would take a extremely long time to do. They’d have to use them in firefight and infection to make the most of them as well.

I’d have them much more scary and popping out of nowhere giving you a fright. Much darker maps and scary music all playing in the background as well. This would be perfect.

Remember kids play this game too! You can’t make it too scary.

I’m hoping the Flood won’t be in Halo 4. I hope there’s references etc, but I don’t want to see the Flood until Halo 5. I want Halo 4 to focus on this “Ancient Enemy” Master Chief will be facing. But then again, the enemy could be the Flood.

Anyways, if you pay attention to the concept art you can see flood controlled ships at the end (Forerunner ships with tentacles around it) And seeing how the Flood is the Reason for everything happening it wouldn’t make sense if they weren’t heavily involved.

You might as well be asking them to confirm master chief being in the game.

I love this Idea, it’s been mentioned so many times before I’m sure 343 will put it in the game.

this music would be perfect.
