If anyone cares, my opinion on this game.

I dont even know why im writing this, probably because im quite bored at the moment. I first got halo 1 back in 2003. I loved the single player, it was great, and for me it was the first good single player fps i ever played. I liked it so much that I bought halo 2 back in 2004 soon after its release. Halo 2 was also great, the single payer being even better than the original. I never really played halo 2 multiplayer until around 2006 or 2007. During this time was where i really got into the halo series. I couldnt wait for the release of halo 3.

For me halo 3 is the best halo game up to that point, and i think quite possibly the best one that will ever be released. The single player was huge, grander than any other out at the and i spent tons of hours in it. For me every aspect of that game was perfect. With halo 3 i became a huge halo fanboy. All i played was that game. When ODST came out I overlooked its flaws and played it, loving every moment of it. In general people think that it was a bad game, but its single player was long and captivating just like all the previous entries. At this point (2008) all everybody played was halo. those were good days for the franchise, and i believed halo 4 would change things after Reach.

I thought halo 4 would be the next big game, one that would drag a new generation of gamers into this great franchise. When i got halo 4 i was quite excited. Because of problems caused by hurricane Sandy, i was unable to get the game at midnight. On November 6 i bought halo 4. i went home, and 3 hours later i was 2 thirds done with the campaign. The linear levels and boring gameplay bored me to death, and the weak story left me unattached to the characters. The problem was that this dint feel like halo. Normally i would have beaten the rest of the campaign(about 1 hour more of game play), but it took me around a month to get to it. The ending is bland and easily predictable. I have found myself playing older games such as metro 2033 and assassins creed instead of the game i thought i would be pouring massive amounts of hours into. Out of all the disappointments i have had involving games, this is the greatest one. For some reason i still ask myself what happened to master chief after activating the last halo, as if halo 4 had nothing to do with the origianl story. But my opinion doesnt really matter, after all i have only been playing halo games for 9 years. Im just happy i didnt spend an extra 40 bucks on the limited edition for such a failure of a game.

Heh. Prepare for flaming.

On topic, this is actually the first Halo that I didn’t buy the soundtrack for because the campaign didn’t stick with me. It kind of reminds me of Halo 2’s campaign (didn’t like how they were showing us the Covenant’s perspective but at least some of the levels were pretty big and you could explore).

In Halo 4 it’s like they are trying to spoon-feed us drama and ‘emotion’, and I hate that. Show us through subtlety, don’t explain every little detail to us like we’re children (It’s supposed to be a mature game, hence the M-rating). Characters talk way too much in this game and it feels like a lot of the cutscenes and dialogue are forced/awkward and it just comes off cheesy, like they’re taking themselves too seriously. Sometimes less is more.

I like Halo for its exploration, and just fighting awesome battles on huge, open alien worlds. Other than the Reclaimer level, most of the game stuffs you in narrow ‘balconies’ with a good view of Requiem. It’s like they’re teasing us, lol. “Here, have a look at this awesome view of this magnificent Forerunner planet while you fight in this tiny area.” XD

The game feels more like Mass Effect (without the exploration) now I think, especially with how they put emphasis on characters and their emotions, along with Garrus and Femshep voice actors. XD

I still have hope, though. The game is still young and it’s fun when it’s working right, and Team Snipers might come back eventually. I won’t be reserving Halo 5 though, since I’ve learned my lesson buying 4’s limited edition.

Paragraphs, my friend.

Ohhh, my eyes are bleeding.
Please seperate your review into paragraphs to make it convenient. Please?

I agree that the music was bad in halo 4. In every other halo game(even halo wars) the soundtracks were great. Also in my original post i failed to mention that one of the main reasons i hated halo 4 campaign was for its tiny linear and almost COD-like maps. Halo 4 featured almost no sandbox elements that were so prominent in previous titles.
