If 343 Does Do a Balancing Update...

Let it be known that this isn’t a complaint thread (If anyone has seen most of my posts around the forums, you’ll know that’s not how I roll).

It’s been floating around for a little while that 343 might be in the process of working on an update to do some tweaking to the weapon balancing. Now, I am a fan of the DMR. I like the DMR. I also love the BR and am fond of the LightRifle. But if they do rework the weapon balancing, I hope it puts all of the loadout weapons in their respective class (I.E. precision, automatic) on a level playing field. Because I would like to be able to use the LightRifle and the Carbine effectively without fear of getting destroyed by the other loadout weapons. As it stands now, I’m fine with how the weapons are balanced. But there’s always room for improvement.

There is alot of room for improvement.

DMR is the only weapon you can logically do good with in BTB, depending on your opponents. It also kills faster than the BR in most situations. (Due to the BR actually having spread.)

BR is a pretty sturdy weapon, however might have to change to comply with changing the DMR and Carbine.

I see no problem with the Light Rifle. The 4 shot kill takes skill to do, and the slow fire rate makes it an unattractive gun for noobs.

Carbine gets destroyed by DMR and BR users, but upping the damage would make it too powerful, so thats tricky.

The 3 automatics seem perfectly fine. They destroy people up close, as they were meant to do.

The AA’s need balancing big time. The auto sentry must win the title for the most unused aspect of the game. It sucks.

Active Camo is just.

It needs to go.

Thruster could use a tid bit more distance.

Pro Vision is OP, but to fix it, idk what could be done. You see through walls man, -Yoinking!- walls.

The auto sentry does not suck one bit. If you ever have at least a party of 4 in a CTF game, have everyone put up an auto sentry. The game quickly goes from a 5v5 to a 9v5 or 10v5. The enemy team doesn’t just have to deal with 1 or 2players defending, but as well as an entire team of auto sentrys. The auto sentry is PERFECT for defending an objective.

Exactly but people keep wanting to use everything outside of their intended roles and then they complain about how it doesn’t work or it’s OP.

Here would be my fix:

DMR: Reduce magnetism and auto aim
BR: Increase ROF
AR: it’s fine, maybe increase range but I think it’s good as is
Boltshot: Make the overcharge shot strip shields, then you need to follow up with the primary fire headshot to kill
Carbine: Make it one less shot to kill, maybe increase clip as well
Pistol: Oh my beloved pistol, RIP - 343i, please buff the pistol to how it was in Reach, it was perfectly balanced in Reach. I mean Bungie spent 10 years trying to balance it, finally gets it right and you changed it :frowning:

other weapons: I have no idea since I never use them because the rest are terrible, so buff them!

The only way they can reduce how OP pro vision is, is to nerf down the range you can see enemies from.

I think the dmr could use a rate of fire nerf since it’s meant to be a long ranged weapon.

Active camo… I guess they could just reduce the time you stay in active camo.

As for thruster pack they should increase it to the thrust you get when you use it in campaign.

The carbine should be a 7 shot kill although idk how that would affect it. It could be too strong.

Hopefully we get a comprehensive balance changes, not just riot nerf now!
*remove BR spread(recoil can stay)
*Nerf the DMR’s aim assist to that of the light rifle
*Remove OHK from Boltshot entirely, buff single shots to compensate to be able to get one kill per mag
*Buff the killtimes of the BR, Carbine, and the unscoped Light Rifle(this should be the slowest of the 3 but 1.77 was too slow for any primary).
*Lower the bloom on autos(don’t reduce max bloom, just make burst fire more viable)
*Decrease PP’s EMP times on vehicles without wheelman, buff single shots(less tool, more weapon)
*Lower Magnum bloom.

In order of priority.

This shouldn’t be unreasonable. I don’t know when this community became complacent with a lack of balance changes, and believes that balance issues can be cleared up by nerfing one weapon.

The Pistol is fine the way it is…

Br 4 burst kill or greater ROF.
Carbine 7 shot or greater Rof
LIghtrifle: Fine but if it become really weak after weapon tweaking than it should be buffed
Automatic Weapons- FINE
DMR- Less Magnetism. MUST
Camo: Dots Should always appear no matter what. No exploiting a way to make the dots not appear.

Descoping to the DMR…PLEASE. Even if you did that and kept the magnetism, at least the poor guy who is running away has a chance to fight back.

People do not realize if you tinker with this game much at all it will become rubbish. No fun. And completely unplayable.

Right now its a blast and best Halo online yet.

The Randomness Needs to be Removed from PODs

Here are my options:
- Reduce the DMR’s bullet magnetism by 10% or 15%, it will still being effective at range, but not in CQB. Add delay between follow up shots by 0.06 second, this means it will gets nearly the same kill time as the BR.
- Add 5% aim assist and magnetism to the LightRifle to make it a more attractive choice.
- Reduce the shots need to reach the max bloom effect by 4 or 5 in the suppressor, this change will made it a more viable option at Close to Medium range.
- Buff the Plasma Pistol’s single shot damage to be similar like it’s predecessor in Reach. It’d make the weapon capable to secure kills as a real secondary, not just a support option.
- Reduce the bloom effect on the Covenant Carbine by 4%-7% to buff it’s performance at mid-range.

Not every changes may be good, but some little changes is enough to balance 'em.

no it isn’t, it’s already not fun and stale. i haven’t played 4 in 2 weeks. i used to play other halos every day for hours. this one is just boring

I like the DMR the way it is, I mean its awesome for BTB or larger maps.
But I’ve been playing a lot of I.slayer lately and theres just too many camping DMR heroes.
Theres no defence against the wall hack enemy spartan esp. if he’s using the DMR.

The alien tech primary weapons are just inferior to the UNSC options and I can see players having serious K/D problems if they go for the mastery commendations.

Perhaps an Alien tech playlist?

In my order of priority, from most concerned to least concerned:

DMR - Reduce RoF and Bullet Magnetism
Reason: The current DMR shoots way too fast for the rifle it’s designed to be, and it’s bullet magnetism is a bit high

Suppressor - 8 more shots required to reach maximum Bloom
Reason: The current Suppressor sucks at every range except super close

Jetpack - Increase charge usage by 1 second
Reason: The current Jetpack allows players to get too high up

Thruster Pack - Push the player forward by 5’-10’ more
Reason: The current Thruster Pack barely does anything

Boltshot - Increase the single shot damage by 1, maybe 2, shots
Reason: The current Boltshot takes all 10 single shots in the clip to strip the shields

Every other weapon and AA are completely fine IMO.

The Thruster Pack is alright. It’s just need to learn how and where to use. If it’d push more, it will be a disadvantage to the user. Maybe push him/her into an another grenade or even push him/her out the map. It’s designed for CQB and it’s really fits it.

You guys are just pointing out key things that you don’t agree with as opposed to looking at everything as a whole. No one has mentioned tactical packages, no one has mentioned support packages, if you guys were working for a major company you’d be fired! No one is backing claims or changes with reasoning, or proof, just opinions. Not to mention many of these changes are subjective to both Map, and game type.
