Idea's to expand on infection?

Let me first say, that i think 343 did a great job with infection. But with most things in this game, I’m finding it to be relatively repetitive. Granted, it is just killing zombie’s, so repetitiveness is a given. But i think there could be a couple things 343 could do to make it not as repetitive.

  1. Add different “infection” variants. I think a BR Infection would be fun where the zombies were really fast. Maybe on the Valhalla remake (I forgot the halo 5 name for that map). A possible rocket infection would be cool (humans have rocket launchers, zombies have gravity hammers perhaps? Sniper infection. Again, utilize the Valhalla remake. Give zombies normal shields and super speed. Humans have to hit headshots for a one bullet kill, or 2 body shots for a kill.

  2. What about objective infection. What if the humans had to grab a flag in the center of the map, and deliver it somewhere while having to fend off the zombies. With each new infected member being added to the zombies team, the remaining human’s movement speed becomes a little quicker as well as their reload speed?

  3. More maps. My favorite halo game that had infection was halo 3. So keep that in mind when i mention more maps. In H3 infection, there was the map that had the house on foundry that you could get on the roof of. The also had the structure that the zombies would lift over too in the upper section of the sandbox map. I think those were community created, but it made it feel like an actual infected scenario because the maps seemed to be a little more social and “fun”.

  4. If you look closely at the post game carnage report, you can see that there is in fact a place where a possible rank could be shown. It has the 10 notches in the diamond shape signifying the 10 games it would take to get ranked in a true arena playlist. Why not make infection ranked? It is a 12 person lobby, and i think it would be cool to add some depth to the community within the playlist. I think it would be smart for the ranks not to matter when it comes to being matched up with other Players. In H3, All the social playlists had the EXP Progression system that allowed everyone to see how many games that account has won in the playlist. It never effected who the game matched you up wth, but it gave a little sense of perseverance to keep playing social. I always thought it was cool to get matched up with someone who had won over 2500 games of social slayer (giving them the 5 star general playlist rank). In my opinion, all that did was add some depth within the playlist.

I think its clear that my favorite halo, and probably my favorite game of all time was H3, So maybe i am reminiscing too much and wanting it to be H3 again. I personally think H3 did a lot of things right. I dont think 343 should mimic that game, but i think if they were to take the best parts of that and make a spin off version that would feel good and look right for h5, it would be very beneficial.

MoR is great because of the customization of infection. When they said they were adding infection, they werent kidding.

you can create any kind of infection mode in custom games besides the objective mode you are talking about. Maybe it can be achieved with scripted killballs somehow in forge, who knows. That being said matchmaking infection in halo games has always been a minor after thought. Its a grifball type game. Not something for a season. (Thats not saying it may become ranked later, IDK)

Custom games is where its at. You wont get req points for warzone, but you can tailor your experience almost anyway you want in infection.

it does show those 10 notches at the PGCR but that’s because it’s not ranked so it’s like a spot that’s not applicable for anything else to be there and so it’s greyed out. I dont know i’m rambling on now. Anyway I like your ideas. Although it’s better as a non ranked playlist like grifball is. It’s social for kick back relax moments at the end of the day.

They just need map and game mode variety. They shouldn’t go too crazy - 3-4 simple urban maps would be good, with survivors starting with magnums & head shots disabled, so they have to scavenge more weapons. In general, less rail guns, hydras and saws since it’s a bit silly at the moment.

Don’t dare to make infection ranked.

The Valhalla map is called viking

I want a holdout zombie map where you must hold down a base, deliver a ball,or some other thing as you make yor way to a central base where you blow it up then escape by going to a pelican. zombies visible, spartans 2 sword swings to kill, weapons on the map with refill stations.

A flood mode where ai’s charge you and as they kill you, you join their ranks to hunt them down as alpha flood(maybe even juggernaut forms)

i dont want ranked for infection, Hell No

From H2A Infection: Flight (progressive bomb mode), Havens (progressive zone mode), number of Alpha infected lives, Number of infected based on Spartans (All but 3 are infected), separate game chat channels, make it so team-based items work in infection (blockers, shields, scripts, etc)

Having more players on infection severs would be nice.

It would be great to have some new infection game types in the next update.

Warzone infection.

infection where the camo isnt useless because of the obvious green mist surrounding the alpha?

Warzone Infection Turbo

I’m sorry but this current infection in halo5 is dull and boring to me; infection in reach is much more exciting and engaging

yeah, I’m mean what is the point in having camo if the players can still see you? boring

Imagine that, 23 infected on a warzone map last man standing. They can see your necroplasm when your camo infected but you are harder to detect

I would agree with number 3. I have an icy, underwater arena infection map if anyone wants to check it out, its called fathom Iced. It gives me goose bumps. Will work on all game variants that just teq. Team spawn points or FFA SLAYER OR Infection.

But more Infection Maps Please. -

They should add infection modes from Halo 3 custom games like Convoy Ambush and Fat Kid.
