Idea's Regarding a DMR nerf

I think that to nerf the DMR effectively it has to suit it’s intended range to do battle at, which is long range. To do this i propose the DMR’s damage to be dependent on the amount of range between the shooter and the target. For example between 75m-100m the DMR would be a 5sk but at 75m-50m it would be a 8sk, 50m-25m a 11sk and 25m-0m a 14sk. This would greatly change the DMR’s effectiveness and would make it a long range weapon like the Light rifle.
Tell me Guys (and Girls) what do you think of this Idea.

That’s a really, really bad idea. It is far too punishing on the DMR for not being in it’s optimal range. We already have automatics to be screwed over by difference in range.

a quick and easy fix would be to make the DMR a 6shot Kill. So up close it would be difficult but still have the long range distance power.

What about 2 firing modes like the LR?

Scoped stays the same, and maybe bloom not scoped. Or recoil? Both would make some sense… You could slow the ROF but I think bloom is kinda the same thing. It would just have to be a small change.

DMR is perfect just the way it is, so leave it alone.

End of discussion.

Get rid of the DMRs armor-piercing capabilities so it can’t wreck vehicles, and it’s fixed.

Cute.

You people need to shut up when it comes to DMR and BR nerfing. They’re good the way they are

I have an idea for a DMR nerf… DON’T!! What is your problem with the DMR? It’s the best primary weapon, so just deal with it!

Your nerf idea isn’t good, because there’s no way for most players to determine in-game range at a glance. Therefore, the amount of damage done by the DMR would seem random and sporadic.

A better fix, which would not affect damage or RoF, while still keeping the DMR useful at its respective range, would be to reduce the Aim Assist. Reducing by Aim Assist about 50% would make the DMR more difficult to use at close range, (similar to an unscoped sniper rifle at close range), but still fairly easy to use at range. Doing this, while keeping the BR unchanged would make the BR more effective at closer range, while the DMR would still dominate at longer ranges.

I think altering damage is a slippery slope, and I don’t really think the DMR’s damage is the problem. The problem is that it’s just as easy to use as the BR in close combat.

I never said that it was OP. All i posted was just my ideas on how it could fit in better with it’s intended range. Just look at my service record and you will see that the DMR is my most used weapon. Also the DMR isn’t the best primary weapon because the effectiveness of a weapon is dependent on the skill of the wielder, although admittedly the skill required isn’t that high for the DMR.

Looks like they didn’t change it in the update (thankfully), so there probably not going to, so there’s another DMR cryer that can stop crying. There is so much cover in this game (to much in my opinion), utilize it and stop crying about the DMR.

In CQB, DMR users are pretty much helpless. At long range, it’s the weapons it’s intended to be.

I can agree it’s over used and it could use a RoF nerf. But the DMR does not need to go under any drastic changes.

20% more bloom and a slightly lower rate of fire.

fixed.

Then why do you want it nerfed?

lol, says the DMR user.

343i already comfirmed they will look into more sandbox changes.

No it isn’t. The dmr is what ruined reach/halo 4 for me so yes it’s not perfect, should be removed.

DMR’s fine as it is, It is balanced by a small clip size and your most likely to kill someone who is wielding a dmr while is he reloading.

Next thing ur probably gonna be whining about is the Assualt rifles effeciency in close range combat saying its too powerful or the suppressor needs a buff or the storm rifle needs a rechargeable battery.

this

Here’s a couple of videos that compare the firing rate and power of each precision weapon. Here’s another one. In my opinion, the DMR just needs a nerf in aim assist and maybe bullet magnetism. The firing rate is almost equal for the BR and DMR so I don’t really see much of a problem there.
