As many of us know the Forerunner weapons were more or less rehashed human weapons. 343 originally tried to make new innovative weapons but when they tested it no one seemed to pick them up and use them because they were unfamiliar. While this saddens me I can understand why 343 did it but, I would love to see them take a risk and separate the forerunner weapons from human and covenant weapons. This is why I would like to ask the waypoint community about what they imagine forerunner weapons to be like. Give us your ideas on unique weapons which offer new play styles.
For example I imagine a weapon that you shoot at an enemy from mid range. The weapon shoots out a long whip like beam that attaches to an enemy. Once attached you can move your crosshair you can drag them somewhere which could give you an advantage. So please give out some of your ideas! I just want to remind all of you that this is not about the most balanced weapon or realistic weapon. This is just a discussion on fun new weapon mechanics that could break the staleness of all the similar weapons in Halo. Please be respectful to other waypoint members.
Wow no one replied.
How about they finish the stasis rifle, get the rest of the equivalent weapons out, and make a “focus rifle equivalent that you get from those beam-defense things”
How about as an armour ability, the teleport armour ability in Halo 4’s coding
Forerunner pistols that provide slight area effects( Damage, Shield, Slowness, Weakness, Corrosion, etc)Loadout weapon with scarce ammo and slow rate of fire
A Railgun-like weapon that charges then fires a “Halo” like beam.-Pick Up
Antimatter Grenade( Pulse grenade, but does even more, like a frag grenade with bouncing, but when it explodes, makes the players within the radius not see enemies beyond their motion sensor)-One per loadout no matter what- on map
Hard-light Sword( What the Knights have.)Pick-Up
Pulse Rifle( A grenade-like launcher that fires 6 bullets and acts like a shotgun when close, and a grenade when far, it fires" pulse rounds that act like a pulse grenade in terms of damage and when thrown for is a pulse grenade that isn’t on the grenade indicater.)- Pick-up
I think your weapon was OP, may need more info, but cool .
The Leecher
design: a black (with orange neon) promethean weapon
Ammo type: ??? round and sticky, 10 rounds per mag
what it does: It leeches on to anyone or anything that touches it including walls. Even when it’s on the ground stepping on it will make it stick to your foot. 1 round last for about 5 sec then incinerates(not enough to kill though).
killing feat: does damage over time like a flame thrower. takes 5 rounds to kil a normal shielded enemy instantly on the 5th shot incinerating them. takes atleast 4 round to kill
<mark>Promethean Hardlight Cannon</mark>
<mark>Turret</mark>
<mark>Fires canisters of hardlight , changing between endless streams to ballistic shells that are able to destroy tanks, and air units, much like the missle pod, and stop attacks like rockets, by blowing them up. While the stream shreds enemy infantry like a breeze.</mark>
Joke armour ability
Haduken: Fires a map wide explosion killing everyone, cooldown, 5 seconds, charge time .5 miliseconds
I want a promethean nade chucker.
FORERUNNER MAELE WEAPON NUFF SAID
خالد
The way I imagine it is that forerunner weapons should seem like they were made to combat the flood. I imagine more of AOE weapons which canonically are to destroy flood matter on a large scale, and beam weapons to target individual flood species. I also would like forerunner weapons to look less human weapon like. I know that 343 couldn’t be original at all when it came to making forerunners species look like a unique species but at lease make their weapons look foreign and unusual to use and hold compared to human weapons.
I was thinking that the Promethean weapons in H4 are outdated. Nowadays the Forerunners would have an updated arsenal, or Mendicant or Offensive Bias would have created newer weaponry.
Anyways, these would be suited for not only destroying Flood, but locking down and containing any form of life, and, if all else fails, eradicating it.
Suppressor: Updated version fires bigger bullets, slower, and more accurately. Still kills in the same time but has longer range.
Lightrifle: Updated version is a bit like the needle rifle. It fires small beams automatically, fires burst when scoped in, and you can charge it into powerful shots when scoped in also. All kill times will be around the same.
Boltshot: Updated version no longer fires a shot pattern, but fires an actual bolt. It can strip shields and if players are unshielded will outright kill them. It does more damage uncharged, also. However, it takes an entire round of ammo and takes a bit longer to charge.
Pulse Grenade: Updated version is a zero-gravity grenade that detonates within proximity or after 5 seconds and bounces off surfaces. When it detonates, it sends out a shockwave that emps shields and vehicles or kills low shielded players.
Scattershot: Updated version has a tighter spread and more range. Still reflects. If you hold down the fire button, it can lock on to a target or up to 3, and the shots will automatically home in on them.
Binary Rifle: Updated version is relatively unchanged. However, holding the fire button will lock onto a target. If you keep contact for 3 seconds, the target will be locked in. After locked in, any round you fire will curve, reflect, or rip through walls to kill the target no matter where they’re at. The challenge is having a giant red laser pointing at someone for 3 seconds.
Incineration Cannon: Updated version doesn’t have bomb clusters, but creates a sort of localized kill ball for some time.
Drive Rifle: New weapon that uses binary technology. Has no scope and is a 2 shot kill and 6 shot clip. What separates this weapon from the others is the fact that when you shoot someone they slowly erode away until they die. Choose between a slow death or a quick one for double the ammo.
Oppressor Rifle: A powerful energy projector that fires a semi-permanent line of damaging hard light. It can fire 5 lines before having to be reloaded, at which point the lines fade. Anyone who is caught in these lines is constantly damaged and can be killed easily. If someone is hiding behind cover, surround their cover with oppression lines so they can’t move! A bunch of people out in the open or running down a hall? Open fire and watch them scurry, or die.
Violator Mine: A type of trap gun. Fire a dart into a surface, and it creates an area. If someone triggers it, they die, and it then creates a pulse AOE to damage anyone nearby. Firing into an enemy will damage them but make them detonate within proximity of their friends. Firing into a friend will cause the same effect. Let the multikills ensue, and have fun using it in KOTH games.
Pulse Launcher: (borrowed concept)
A gun that will fire heavy pulse shells in a slow arc. They are contact weapons that will annihilate anyone they hit and whoever is near them. What’s strange about this weapon is that if you scope in on a target the shell will home towards them and can turn at a 60 degree angle.
Hardlight Blade: A melee weapon! Great, right?
While the energy sword is the basic melee weapon and the gravity hammer has a bit more range. The Hardlight Blade cancels out damage when you swing it by using stasis. It has a long wind up, and a long animation (you impale or tear people in half with it) and a massive lunge. You can also one-shot a vehicle using it by ripping the driver out. Using this is all about timing, because if you get it wrong, the stasis field won’t protect you. Use it to deflect a splatter or explosive.
Aggressor: A sidearm like the boltshot. This is more akin to the gorgon pistol of Gears fame. Every trigger pull unleashes a storm of hardlight, and it can fire as fast as you can pull the trigger at the expense of ammo. Do you want an accurate burst or an entire wall of damage?
Seraphim Cannon: The most powerful weapon in the game (hopefully).
If it spawns, it will only spawn once with one shot.
Fires a single thread of light. All is calm. A small light emerges from the point of impact and grows brighter over 7 seconds. Suddenly 1/3 of the map is entirely engulfed in a bright explosion.
“Killtacular. Killing Frenzy.”
The catch? If anyone gets too close or touches the epicenter, it’ll just kill them instead of destroying half the map.
Should your team run away, or should someone sacrifice themselves? Up to you.
I was also thinking of teleporter equipment that you lay down as a mine. Wherever you lay down the next one will act as a two way teleporter for 2 minutes. Interesting strategies ensue.
Cluster Launcher
Spartan Laser like ammo- 100%
Fires an initial beam damages shields, then splits apart and causes area damage
Initial Beam- no shields
Splash damage -no shields
together- DEATH
User must stay in place and not move when firing
Enemies can run through the initial shot normally
Cooldown is 3 more secs than Incineration Cannon
Burst Rifle
two shots per clip- 2 clips
Fires an initial blast that knocks out shield, then implodes enemy body(not that bloody)
Can bounce off walls and go through victim
Preservation Rifle
75% ammo
Fires a shot that freezes target and drops their shields to zero for 5 seconds
Arc Canister
Charges up, then releases an electrical volt that takes down shields and spreads from body to body.
Causes enemy to flinch.
10 rounds
all in one clip
In order to answer this I’ve had to think about what would make a Forerunner weapon a Forerunner weapon. As Prometheans have unique traits and abilities, such as being able to splinter in to multiple enemies, see through walls and teleport, I’ve tried to encorporate those aspects in to some weapons.
Here’s what I came up with…
Crawler Cannon
Short range weapon
Shoots out a ball which can kill if it hits you dead on. This ball transforms in to a Crawler which will hunt and shoot down the nearest enemy.
Pulse Rifle
short-mid range weapon
Shoots out a circle of hardlight which stops right in front of the shooter. It then pulses forward at your enemy in 3 bursts. Anyone that touches this is disintegrated.
Promethean Rifle
Long range weapon
A combination of the Spartan Laser and the Beam Rifle. You have to charge up to shoot it, and can shoot twice in quick succession. When scoped in you have promethean vision. This is a two shot weapon but like with any Sniper a headshot kills in one.
Suppressor with a slowing rate of fire and no bloom to encourage burst firing.
A “Healer”, 2 shots, sniper-range scope, recharges a teammate’s shields 2/3 of the way.
Inversed Lightrifle, 4sk single-shot unscoped, 5sk burst-shot scoped.
HEX (Hardlight Extermination Xylophone) [Name Need]
This weapon is based of the weapons in Halo: Legends the forerunner ships.
Weapon Function
The weapon has one shot per clip and is a charge based weapon. It has the ability to render thin/medium terrain useless and phases right through dismantling and halting victim that cower and hide.
Weapon Description
This weapon was created on Shield World-0459, it had been manufactured to counter human aggressive resistance and halt their guerrilla tactics. This innovation in forerunner weaponry has made it more efficient when fighting cowering foes. This HEX uses charged magnetic and electric propelled fields that create hexagons of hard light that break the sound barrier and render physical matter useless. Many attempts and tests have been recorded most notably the victim hears a octave of sounds almost like a xylophone before being assimilated.
I think it’d be cool if the Didact’s “Force Grip” was made into a weapon. Like, have some kind of big cannon/launcher, and when you shoot it, it’d shoot a slow visible wave. Whenever it grabbed an enemy, it’d pull the enemy up to the sky a few feet. It then charges up the force for 3 seconds, and then slams the enemy down onto the ground, doing massive damage. If the picked up enemy hits a ceiling or something, then they’re automatically slammed onto the ground with minimum damage.
Some kind of Forerunner Grenade Launcher that shoots three Pulse Grenades forward in a very close together W formation. When they land, they automatically activate, unless you hold down the trigger and decide when to activate them. They don’t bounce around, but they don’t stick on walls neither.
I’ve always imagined some kind of Forerunner Turret. Like, have it when it’s in its mounted version, it just floats off of something. When you hold it, you hold that something that it floats off of. It’d shoot very accurate, very fast, have high damage, and use hardlight shots. You’d see Promethean Knight Commanders use it, and it’d be very rare in Multiplayer and when it did show up it’d have very long respawn times.
Also, bring back the cut Burst Pistol (make this the replacement of the Boltshot), and the cut Bishop Pistol. These two really should’ve been in Halo 4.
I think forerunner weapons should have burning Damage or something like that
Also when making weapons I hope 343 make them feel like they were designed to kill the flood, (which they would have been)
I think 343 should think about the Flood Covered High Charity level in halo 3 and design the weapons in a mindset where they are thinking "what would the forerunners use to remove all the flood. I never got the feeling that if there were flood in halo 4 that the forerunner weapons would do much. I mean personally I imagined forerunner weapons that could be pistol sized but could be stronger than a scorpions cannon. I think 343 really needs to express that the forerunner weapons are hot and burn through everything they touch, that they were made to destroy every last spore in an infestation. cosmetic things I think they should add to make it seem more powerful. I think they should add that burning up effect when you die for all forerunner weapons and have burning effects when they hit a target.
Make a boltshot, but instead of the normal charge shot, make the charge shot like the focus rifle or sentinel beam. This would be able to kill, and would use up the whole mag for one kill.
I’ve had three different ideas for crazy unique weapon ideas.
All three were Forerunner weapons.
However, I can’t find them.
And explaining them clearly takes a long time and a lot of typing.
But they are really cool ideas.
Like… really cool.
MY IDEA:
which I’ve listed a million times;
A promeathean grenade that disintegrates a target or group of targets upon impact.
kinda like the flame grenade in Halo 3, but with the power of disintegrating like the scattershot , binary and he incineration cannon
it makes sense cannon-wise, and it’d be a million times better than the lame pulse grenade
you can spawn with one, and with the grenade package you can spawn with two
Anyone like this at all?

The Suppressor IMO is useless in Multiplayer. But I’ve always imagined it being able to kill 50 or more Infection Forms within one clip.
I see the LightRifle as an alright sniper rifle, but could do the job at mid range when the Flood pushed the line too much.
I see the Boltshot as the headshot pistol, but when needed can be used as a shotgun, since its going to be close range mostly, it’s going to need something more serious when something more serious happens.
I see the Scattershot has a multi-kill shotgun with range but can do CQB if necessary, killing at least 2 Flood Combat Forms and maybe a few Infection forms with one shot.
I see the Incineration Cannon as huge crowd control, with the Pulse Grenade being minor crowd control.
As for the Binary Rifle, must’ve been designed to kill Pure Forms and other large targets at long range. Because it packs the punch, but only two shots? I’m going to assume the Binary Rifle is for large targets while the LightRifle is for lesser targets.
So overall, I think 343i did a very good job with what these Forerunner weapons would do against the Flood.

What I would do is take the secondary blast balls from the Incineration Cannon, and put that into a grenade.
When you throw the grenade, whatever it hits automically causes it to activate. It then releases two of the balls that bounce in opposite directions, and then explode. Each would cause 50% or so damage with the splash damage. But a direct hit could instantly disintegrate a player.
And don’t say my beautiful, very useful Pulse Grenade is lame. It hurts me :’(
