Ideas on "Specializations"

I’m going to throw this out first. This is just speculation right now, I have no sources other than my own head. Don’t start complaining and arguing, please. <3

Now, I know there’s been a lot of split opinions on the subject of the new specialization system that Halo 4 will be implementing. Some people are leaning towards the extreme side and saying that it’s going to be like “perks” in the CoD games. I personally don’t agree with this, but, it has got me thinking. What -are- the specializations going to be?

After a bit of thinking, I came to my own conclusion on the matter, your own may differ, I respect that, but this is what I think.

When you look at BF3, yes, BF3. You see that it too has a specialization system, a slot that allows you to benefit yourself and your squad in a certain, very subtle way. Be it, either, through giving your squad a small boost in ammo, or having their explosives do a bit more damage. And so on. These things don’t give you and your squad a massive advantage, but rather, make you more effective if you use them properly.

Onto Halo. If we take BF3 as an example, we can see how it would easily fit in. A small extra that gives you a small boost in a certain way. An extra clip, more resistant shields, faster or extended sprinting.

A few examples could be:
-Marksman: Reduced bullet spread across all headshot capable weapons, only when scoped/zoomed.

-Athlete: Spring for an increased period of time, but suffer slowed movement for a short time if spring it drained.

Those are just examples. That’s all until I find something else, show me what specializations you would like in replies!

Why do people believe specializations are the same things as modifications?

From what was said, it doesn’t seem to be the same thing at all.

I have no idea what they are going to be like. The good thing is we won’t have to wait long to find out.

I want one, that I can only have and no one else on the planet, that makes me have extra over shields and able to one shot anyone with any weapon.

I was going to make a similar thread, maybe later but i’ll put my two cents in now.

The specializations should remain as minor advantages and not how perks work COD. This goes with the execution idea that i am for. 343 must implement them right so we don’t end up Commando Pros, Danger Close, Marathons, or Ghosts running around in our Halo sandbox. Those are huge advantages and i can imagine how each of them would break Halo.

I do like the idea of reduced recoil though since guns like the BR (and possibly others) are going to have it. It won’t mean you can instant pwn better players, just that it’s easier to control the upward climb. This is a slight advantage.

The ability to sprint longer/faster/without stopping. Combine either of these with swords or other close range weapons and you’ll see them dominate more than the BR/DMR utilities ever did. This is a huge advantage and not exactly balanced one either.

Health/Shied Regen (i am not sure which), extra ammo, and an extra grenade have been confirmed for Halo 4 ^.^
