Just wanted to hear everyone’s ideas for why at least some of them are hostile again.
It has been five years since the war, the situation between the UNSC & Covenant may have changed.
Also, the enemies we see on Requiem could have possibly been there a long time, unaware of the end of the war.

Because people can’t get over the idea that aliens can be good. Like Russians, or Nazis.
Because they are rebelling against their new look.

This right here.
Remember (and especially if you follow the lore/read Glasslands) You’ll know that not all of the Sanghelli race are friendly to the UNSC. The race is very much fractured and if i am right, then it’s become even more divided by Halo 4.
Maybe what we see is an outcast fringe group scavenging for Forerunner tech or maybe the pro UNSC Sanghelli were all wiped out (Arbiter included). Unlike Glasslands which take place what, weeks after Halo 3? Halo 4 occurs four years after that game.
It could be anything, as with the rest of Halo 4s story. Which it makes it even sweeter.
I dont understand why people mix up the Elites alliance and the Covenant. If they are covenant they believe in the great journey. The Elites separated from the covenant! By the end of halo 3 Humans and Covenant are not allies. Humans and Elites are allies. Stop thinking that just because humans allied with the elites means that they also allied with the covenant!

You seem to leave out the detail that not all the Elites want to be cuddly with the humans. In fact, many still believe in the Great Journey of sorts and are looking for reasons…to well, live again. Though the Prophets lied to every race, the Elites felt that under this lie, they at least had a purpose. An enemy to fight and a faith to give them reason to live.

That the Soviet Union is portrayed as evil is just a pro-capitalist view. If you’re not sure why the Nazis are considered evil then I suggest you grab a history book.
Other than that, I agree with the sentiment of your statement.
There are still Elites that agreed with the prophets and thought what the Arbiter did was Heresy.
And there have been some conflicts one Sanghelios.
So that could be your answer
I agree with the fact that it may be an anti-human splinter group, bu ti think it may have something to do with the explosion at the end of Glasslands.
When did they ever become our friends? (unsc forces and civilians anyway)
Outside of elites and engineers, the covenant has always had it out for us.
And in glasslands we learned that most elites still didnt like us and that only arbiter’s followers were our allies.
Theres even a faction of neo covenant working with human rebels who are planning to launch an invasion on earth.
ONI Guy 1: Hey let’s help fuel a civil war between the Elites!
ONI Guy 2: Yeah! They all deserver to die! Humanity won’t be pushed over again!
Unspecified time later
Elites: We must unite up against the humans. They think they can control the galaxy! They helped fuel the war that cost millions!
Or something like that… etcetera.
I thought there was going to be a lot of splinter groups of Elites and Grunts. I think I read somewhere that the first lot of Elites and Grunts that attack are looking in the ship for stuff to steal.
Then again I could have imagined all of that.
I think its because the elites are a very proud race it even explains this in the books they focus everything on the great journey and not afraid to lay down there lifes for it. Also in halo 3 i think they joined the humans because they didnt agreee with the covenant and how the where treating the forunner relics,so they saw how well the humans where surving so far so they thougt if we join then they would have enough power to destroy the covenant who was disgraceing thire race and religon. And there was always conflict between the humans and Elites and in halo 4 they saw the ancient evil as there gods and saw the humans fighting them so they didnt not wait 2 join the side of their gods.Classic Elite Behavior.
They are pirates.
My my, so many possibilities!
Abiding Faith
Pirates
-Yoinks!-
Haters
agreed i dont think we will know the real reason intell halo 4 all we can do is look at the signs spread thourght out the books games and movies.
