So im on my bus ride home to play some halo and i was reading these threads that seem to have all these aparent “facts” that the population is low.
I had an idea, why dont we get the actual facts!
When i say this i mean maybe a section in the weekly updates on how many people played halo during that week and where most of that population was regarding different playlists and whatnot. Also maybe a showing of how many people are in the playlists in-game. As much as i like this idea i also know it had its downfalls. It camd be nagative because if it shows theres not many people in the playlist maybe potential players will avoid it.
Tell me your ideas and share with the comunity. I think this is an interesting subject where many people would like to see some sort of implimentation of this
i also just thought of maybe a live stat section on waypoint that would be pretty cool. like if your at work or school and on your way home would like to check which playlists have the most people players in them at the time!
Coming from the oceanic servers where it is nearly impossible to find games of FFA and warzone assault (unless new content , or new ranked season)
If a population was displayed then this could either cause people to not search if they knew the population was low
But for me personally if i knew there were people searching in warzone assault then i would also search (as would many people) but at the moment we have an issue where noone searches because noone searches (at least from what i can see)
So rather than maybe posting actual numbers for the population like they did in previous halo’s they could just categorize the populations.
Eg high population in Slayer , and a medium population in Warzone and a low population in team arena
(so like say , high 20% of the server is in that playlist , or just over 10,000 people , or whatever 343i thinks represents a high population.
The reason why 343 DOESN’T do that is because the population is alot lower compared to previous Halo entries. If they show us the numbers, it’s giving off a bad vibe because it shows that Halo is declining. The population is probably still in the five digits. Its just alot lower than before so 343 doesn’t want to show it.
Halo 6’s population won’t be an issue not when it’s played on PC and whatever Microsoft have in store with their next machine, which Im reluctant to call a console at this point. I think Halo Wars 2 and H3A will be the last halo games we get on then One.
I just wanted the community’s opinion on the subject, my poll was never intended to be attacking Halo 5’s population count.

Hopefully Halo 6 releases on the One and not the next Xbox console, I’ve only had my Xbox One for about a year and a half.

I think transparency about population would be a good thing, but I doubt it will happen.

Ive had mine about the same time, but typically console generations only last around 5 years, last gen was ridiculously long and with both Sonys and microsofts being underpowered out of the gate I doubt we will see this gem go further than 2019.

honestly i wouldnt care about how many people are on, i would just be happy to see that people are playing, well enough to make finding a game easy lol
If I remember right halo 3 had a map of the world with dots all over it and maybe even total population. I wouldn’t mind having that back. I’d bring back memories thats for sure.
