I have already posted this in the living dead feedback section, but I think it would get more attention here. I also posted it on a site called HaloCommunity.com. The thread is here.
Community maps
Remove betrayals
Make Sword base and cage less likely to show up.
Remove normal infection altogether. Maybe rename alpha zombies to just zombies.
Make other non-alpha zombies have a loner sprint than normal but, not unlimited.
Add a playlist with variety. Like Zombies have hammers and swords, they also have small shields that protect them for a few shots. Maybe alpha ones have poor camo. Humans would have a DMR, and Shotgun.
Add a few weapons on the map to add more variety to zombies. Maybe have a sniper with 4 bullets so we could get a few longer range kills. Zombies might need to be made a little stronger overall to compensate. Like speed, or adding a bit more strength.
Nobody would be zombie 2 or 3 time in a row when they spawn.
Fix Glitches that ruin the game for other players like camping outside the window on sword base.
Add a variant without AAs
So far the feedback I have gotten has seemed to be positive. Lets make this update happen!
> I was thinking of #7 as just an idea to be played around with to see if we could come up with something cool.
Indeed. I’m not so sure it would add very much to standard holdout-style maps, but I’ve seen weapon pickup used to great effect in journey maps. Perhaps if LD gets a few journey maps, or if a separate playlist is added for them, 7 would work well.
I really don’t get why they turned off betrayal booting without disabling friendly fire. I can go in there and go -20 or so betraying people if I don’t get the map I want. Yeah, they disabled booting because of the betrayal bug, but that just caused a new problem which hasn’t been addressed. They turned off friendly fire in hog race, so why not zombies?
I wish that the developers would fix the stupid cliches on sword base, and Boardwalk, it takes away form the fun of living dead when someone jumps up onto a ledge and has no way of getting killed it really upsets me and my friends to the point that we jsut quit altogether
1, 2 and 7 for sure, the others have merit, but Im not sure how much we will get from 343. crosses fingers
One small request, that last few moments at the end of each round when every player goes ballistic with their swords at the spot where the last man standing just died, extend that by 1 or 2 seconds longer, it never last long enough LOL
I would very much like to see custom infection game types like they were in Halo 3. So like fat kid, Jomba tower, regular zombies, and other custom made zombie types. Also i really wish their was custom forge maps as well. Custom maps just make infection amazingly fun! I bet if they brought the good ol’ fun infection back, their probably will be more people playing halo reach.

Sure if they do the same with the few thousand that play squad slayer. Im sure I would enjoy playing Squad slayer as much as you would enjoy playing Living dead, so we should put them in the same weekend playlist. Deal? Sarcasim meter is reading about 8.7

Living Dead needs to be more like Living Dead was in Halo 3! Living Dead is the most played playlist (and loved) and should be updated/get more attention. now to examine your suggestions:
Yes! Community maps in Halo 3 were very loved and should be returned (and whatever happened to that forge competition for Living Dead?). 1/9 agrees
Yes! If two/three friends are playing Infection and one is out of ammo, gets betrayed, and Boom! more ammo! so yes, get rid of this. 2/9 agrees
Sword Base just needs soft kill zones in the tunnels and Cage needs soft kill zone on the top middle building, but Cage should show up less. 3/9 agrees
Yes and No. Infection on Pinnacle sucks! you try to evade up to the building to get there quicker so you dont die and you roll off the edge, thus getting -1. also, Infection is harder for the Humans, thus making it fun for Zombie players. So, make it appear less, but don’t get rid of it all together. 3/9 agrees
Is this even possible? 3/9 agrees
Yes! Going back to Halo 3 Living Dead, it added variety to the playlist. and made it fun to ALSO be Zombie in some of the gametypes. question though: you say you want more gametypes and variety, but you want to get rid of Infection? 4/9 agrees
Experimental ONLY! i see where you’re going with this, but doesn’t it seem unfair a Human now has unlimited (basically) Energy Sword ammo and now can dual (while cool, but) with Zombies and make it harder for Zombies to win? for a gametype like this, Zombie melee would have to be GREATLY increased to avoid these duals (while not so bad when 12 Zombies against 1, terrible when 1 Zombie against even 2 Humans) 5/9 agrees
For the love of the Rings, YES! this was not an issue in Halo 3 as an option was available for Random/Winner/Loser when the next Zombies were chosen, but is unavailable in Reach (which is beyond me of why there isn’t) 6/9 agrees
Add soft kill zones in the tunnels on Sword Base for sure. Ive played a custom game on Sword Base (normal matchmaking gametype, normal map) but with those two kill zones and the map became MUCH better. so i agree with this. 7/9 agrees
Congratulations! You and I agree on 7 out of 9 of the issues you have talked about, nice job. However, I have seen one thing you may have missed (or does this include in #1?) and that is customization of the default maps. The default maps look to blank, boring, and don’t give a good Zombie feeling (as Halo 3 did a good job in… again) Random boxes on the ground, sandbags in corners, etc… To hoping Living Dead finally gets some attention!
