Ideas for Invasion entrances in Halo 4.

Invasion was a great idea in Reach but they need to take it even further in Halo 4. Help give it more of a cinematic feel.

My idea is that the attacking teams begin the match falling in orbital drop pods while the defending teams are already on the ground. You can move your head during the pre-match but you can’t do much else and you are witnessing the entire thing in first person.

Spartans (offense)- 15 seconds until start of match: You are falling at an incredible speed about 1,000 feet above the map in an ODST drop pod, you look down and see the whole battlefield. 10 seconds: The pod hits the ground and you hear a computerized voice telling you to prepare for battle. 6 seconds: The door blows off of your pod. 4 seconds: You jump out and grab your primary weapon. 0 seconds: You gain control of your spartan, you are ready to fight.

Spartans (defense)- 15 seconds until start: You are patrolling with your team on the map until you look up in the sky and see some meteors falling toward the planet. 10 seconds: You recognize that the meteors are actually covenant drop pods when they hit the ground. 6 seconds: You hear your teammates yelling “Covies to our [enter clock number here]!” while you see Elites jumping out of their pods. 4 seconds: Your teammates start throwing weapons to you and each other while you prepare quickly for the covenant attack. 0 seconds: You take control of your spartan, you are ready to fight.

Elites (offense)- 15 seconds until start: You are falling above the map in a covie orbital drop pod while staring at a computer screen showing you the map you’re falling onto. 10 seconds: Your pod hits the ground and you hear your sangheili commander telling you to prepare for glorious victory. 6 seconds: The door blow off your pod 4 seconds: You jump out of the pod and unsheath your primary weapon. 0 seconds: You gain control of your body, you are ready to fight.

Elites (defense)- 15 seconds until start: You look up and see what looks like meteors falling above you. 10 seconds: You recognize that the meteors are actually ODST drop pods as they hit the ground, you hear some unrest among your brethren. 6 seconds: You and your sangheili brothers start to roar. 4 seconds: You see spartans jumping out of the pods and you and your teammates start tossing weapons to each other. 0 seconds: You gain control of your body, you are ready to fight.

What do you guys think?

Really cool ideas, thanks for adding detail.
This would truly get me pumped for each mission

I likes. It feels like the end of everything in Medal of Honor (2010).

Spartans (offense) victory: 15 seconds: You’re running towards the extraction/sniping the remaining Elites (depending on the scenario, your shields starting to flutter. Teammates are covering you/picking off the counter-attacker… 7 seconds: You throw the objective at the Pelican’s hold/shoot the head of an Elite. 4 seconds, everyone comes along the Pelican/lower their guns. 0 seconds, the Pelican flies away, Elites shooting at it (CTF scenario.

Elites (offense) victory: 15 seconds: An elite slices a random Spartans’ leg, then stabs you in the head with an Energy Dagger. 13 seconds: Random teammate kills elite, picks up objective/shoots the Elite (depending on the scenario) 10 seconds: Banshee is seen being piloted toward the Pelican/crowd of Spartans. 7 seconds: You almost reach the extraction, when plasma fire and a fuel rod shot downs the Pelican. Several Elites crowd you, and a random Elite chokes and snaps the neck of the second Spartan.

Spartans (defense) victory: 20 seconds: Two Spartans are in combat with a random Elite. Right-hand Spartan nearly dies (helmet cam). 13 seconds: Spartan grabs a Shotgun, and kills the Elite. 8 seconds: the Elites are hiding behind some decent cover. 5 seconds: two Spartans with Rocket Launchers destroy the Phantom/kill off Elites (depending on scenario) 0 seconds: Spartan sits in a fold-out chair.

Elites (defense) victory: 25 seconds: An Elite shoots a Plasma Repeater at the Spartans in cover. Throws a plasma grenade. 18 seconds: An Elite is carrying the objective/in a melee fight with a Spartan. Spartan is firing at the slowed Elite with a DMR/Spartan wins CQB, getting the Elite knocked into a hard surface. 12 seconds: Spartan stabs Elite in first-person view (Spartan). 8 seconds, shields go down by Focus Rifle, then shot by Needles. Dies. 6 seconds: Tank rolls in to try to destroy Phantom/Warthog tries to assist. Fails. 0 seconds: Phantom goes away/Elites walk casually in victory.

Some people think that multiplayer and campaign should be two completely different things, I say, why not try to integrate them together a little?

I like the way you think, but I don’t think we could do cutscenes with the characters killing each other, I think that maybe in victory for the spartan offense everyone cuts to a scene of the spartan with the objective simply walking into the back of a pelican, for elite offense everyone cuts to a scene of the elite with the objective floating into the pelicans grav lift. For a spartan defense victory you simply see longswords and pelicans zooming overhead, for elite defense, you simply see phantoms, banshees, and maybe a covenant frigate overhead.

It sounds pretty cool, but IMO, if this does get implemented, dropping down in a pod should only occur once, and the rest of the times you spawn in normally because:
A. It would get really boring really fast to do it every time you respawn, especially in the heat of a battle where you want to get back in it as quick as possible, leading to point B.
B. Every second counts in Invasion. If you waste 10 seconds each time dropping down in a pod, unless the time limit was raised, your team better have a plan ready and in action by the time you drop the first time or you don’t stand a chance.

That’s what I meant, you only do it on the initial spawn of every game. If you die on the first tier then you spawn next to your pod, if you die on the next tier you spawn near the objective areas of the first tier, and so on and so forth.

This is pretty awesome! I think it would make invasion much cooler. ^^

Sounds very cool. For the offensive team, we definitely need to see a first person drop.

I think this is an awesome idea but I think you should be in control of the player all the time like when your in the drop you look around wherever you want inside the pod or out the window and when you land you only have your secondary on you and you’re primary weapon is on the wall and to grab it you just look at it and hold your reload button. Also to exit you just walk out but it still does the animation of getting out of the drop pod. And when your on the defending team you just walk around as normal but when the drop pods hit the ground the ground shakes causing you to fall over.
