Just wanted to throw this out here, as with all the discussion regarding bringing back the OG shotgun [CE-3] and whether or not the bulldog can work for Infection. I figured I’d see if we should rather instead of one or the other, expect 343 to give us a variety pack playlist of infection as they’ve done for most things and has been the case for Infection in Reach for example.
So, without further ado - Gametype #1:
Alpha Zombies
- Three Alpha zombies spawn with grapplehooks and headshot invulnerability.
- All other ‘new zombies’ will spawn with thrusters and headshot vulnerability.
- Survivors spawn with limited ammo bulldogs.
- Last Man Standing: Gets an overshield, repulsor and commando.
Gametype #2:
Infection
- One Alpha Zombie spawns with shields and a duellist energy sword.
- All other ‘new zombies’ spawn with standard energy swords and headshot vulnerability.
- Survivors spawn with Classic Shotguns & Sidekicks
- Last Spartan Standing gets overshield, repulsor and a battle rifle in place of the sidekick.
Gametype #3:
Living Nightmare
- New Mode utilising a 28 player lobby.
- Singular Alpha Zombie spawns with a active camo on first spawn to get the game going.
- All zombies spawn with Elite Bloodblades, no shields or headshot invulnerability.
- Launch Site, Behemoth & BTB Maps are edited to appear as night time variants.
- Survivors Spawn with Flashlight versions of Assault Rifles & Single Magazine shotguns
- Last Man Standing gets overshield, SAW and DMR/Bandit.
- This mode may or may not use a slowly enclosing circle.
These are my ideas on infection for infinite. Please let me know what you think!

I miss infection so much, I don’t understand why it’s taking so much time, it’s not as complicated as that !
This is good proprosition of gametype, repulsor for last man standing seems good, but I’m not sure for the invulnerability headshot.
Drop wall could be useful for zombie too

Simple its because we don’t have the og pump shotgun yet the bulldog wouldn’t work for infection like the infected would have to have half shields for it to one shot at close range give them no shields the survivors are too strong give the infected shields the infected are too strong
Imho reach handled infection the best with its alpha zombies mode
Also imo reach had the best shotgun for infection

Shotgun should be more powerfull in this mode, or they should bring back the good old shotgun for this mode

Whatever they have they need to bring back chump or i won’t enjoy it.
For those that don’t know chump wqs a rule from H3 where the first couple people to die are the infected next round.

Oh agreed its one of the few gripes i have with reach’s infection like if it had that rule in place i would’ve said reach’s infection mode was perfection

Reach still has the single greatest custom game mode and map of all time called: Writer’s Mind and i think Writer’s Creation
Its an infection mode my friend and i found one night at around 1 or 2 am not too long after Reach came out. We were the last 2 on for the night and a random from one of our previous games invited us to play. If you haven’t played i i definitely suggest you do. Most fun i have ever had in a Halo game was playing that with a bunch of my friends in a psuedo lan party at my bachelor party.
I would like to see a grief-like mode where there are two apposing human teams and the zombies. Maps are built like two fortresses that humans trade fire between to open up weak spots which will allow zombie players into the enemy’s base. Think of the interactive map elements on H2’s Zanzibar but multiplied. Zombies would have to be pretty powerful as to not be farmed for kills before they can enter a base, but humans could make use of the broader sandbox.

Zombies/Infection in general just needs to come back as a fun social game type to play in Halo.
