I think Halo 4 should go back to the roots of the Halo franchise. When you look back to Halo 2, people casual and hardcore gamers both enjoyed it. Halo 2 was competitive out of the box. Each game since they keep pandering to the casual players. Having BR spread, bubble shields, power drainers, etc in Halo 3. Then having AAs, bloom, and horrendous maps in Reach. I hope 343 reads through their forums and they understand what their game needs. They need to have a utility weapon with hitscan registration. If it is a burst weapon, don’t have bullet spread. Have a great set of maps that promote set ups, and map control. Not just a cluster of weird geometry. Finally, have a real ranking system. Have it set up 1-50 just like the Halo 2 days. Halo 2 it was much harder to get a 50 than Halo 3. It will keep people motivated towards getting that next rank. Not too mention the symbols for 44-50 were sweet. I know people will complain about boosters and people buying accounts but honestly it isn’t a big problem. If someone buys a 50 and all they do is play social at a sub par level you know the guy bought it, and they constantly get dogged for it. Who cares about them. As far as boosters skewing the ranking system, that doesn’t happen too often either. That ranking system is still much better than the current one. The only people who hate on the 1-50 system are bitter, angry casuals who can’t improve their game. They need to design this game around the players who will actually stay and play the game, and many of them are competitive players. Casual gamers fit in and had a great time back in Halo 2. Why couldn’t they now?
Though I don’t agree with you, it’ll be nice to see the new trilogy start off in a “back-to-roots” sorta thing that 343i has stated while bringing in awesome new stuff.
