Ideas for Halo 3 Anniversary

Geetings Halo Fans! With Halo 3’s 10th anniversary only two years away, what would you guys want to see for Halo 3 Anniversary?

Yes I know we’re still gearing up for H5 Guardians but this way we can voice our opinions before 343 solidifies anything.

Ground rules: Any negative posts in general, or that badmouth MCC, 343i, or state the obvious such having a playable game will be removed!. I want only positive imput.

For example:

What maps would you want to see remastered? How many?

Should the entire game be remastered since it’s only one game as opposed to 4 with MCC?

What would you want to learn from the anniversary terminals?

Lastly, Halo 3’s campaign has been os source of controversy for the Halo Community, with many players complaining that it dropped the Arbiter’s story and led to a lack of story and character development (For the Arbiter as well as Commander Keyes, Truth, and Sgt. Johnson to an extent). So, for H3 Anniversary, should the remastered version of the campaign remain exactly as the original version, with just a visual overhaul, or should 343 “fix” or add to the campaign’s story to include those feature that were so loved in Halo 2’s campaign?

They don’t need to, and won’t, make a Halo 3 Anniversary.

Best ideas ever for a Halo 3 Anniversary -

  • Don’t make one- Not needed

I really don’t need a H3 remastered. The version in the MCC doesn’t look that bad and plays quite smoothly. I’m playing through it now on legendary with a coop buddy, and I forgot how easy it was lol.

How about a soundtrack that isn’t terrible compared to the original?

CEA had a inferior yet faithful soundtrack but also with the option to use classic music and new graphics.

But H2A screwed it all up by getting rid of Incubus and Blow Me Away, and not letting us play with classic music and new graphics.

If they are going to remaster the soundtrack, at least give us the CEA option.

I don’t want to see a repeat of HCEA and H2A where they decide they unnecessarily need to interject their own touch into everything. Please, don’t improvise, just stick to the script.

343I really messed up the music with Halo 2 Anniversary. Songs were heavily altered, usually for the worse, and in some cases they were replaced entirely. Halo CEA music wasn’t as good but it was at least optional and faithful to the original. This though, is just blatant disrespect for the source material. It got to the point where I would simply switch back to the 2004 mode when the music came up, since you can’t just switch the music itself, you have to switch everything.

The Art Style was faithful for the most part (in fact I think they did a good job at spicing up previously bland areas like cairo station as well), but there was still a hint of the annoying chrome-tron architecture that plagued Halo 4, and this is VERY present in the multiplayer aspect of the game.

Anyways, to me, any form of Anniversary should be like this:
-Improves (not alters!) the sound.
-Improves (not alters!) the style and graphics.
-Adds additional, optional content. I’d be perfectly fine with new weapons, enemies, skulls, new missions, etc as long as the vanilla experience is still present.*
-Just overall remains faithful to the original product. By far the most important point that encompasses all other points.
-The ENTIRE experience is present. HCEA had Reach Multiplayer, and H2A only had six maps. Shouldn’t be that way.

Also if they made a Halo 3 Anniversary with Terminals, I think they should cover the events of Halo 3 itself. We see the Arbiter say he once called the Chief a friend, but you never really see them bond in-game. Terminals could provide new cutscenes of what happens in-between missions.

*Really, I did like that the multiplayer had new items, and I feel they could’ve incorporated some of this into the campaign as well under an optional skull.

I don’t want to see a Halo 3 Anniversary though because:

  1. It’s getting a bit gaudy. You can’t just keep rehashing old things forever.
  2. The original game isn’t that dated to begin with and is still online.
  3. I’m worried they will make the same mistakes.

I agree I think 343 better is off focusing on making new Halo games and improving from there. They remastered two halo games I think that’s fine.

I WOULD LOVE HALO 3 ANN. IT IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE HALO AND TBH IT… alright caps are done. While 3 was HD, it can be remastered with better technology that we have today. I think it should be the last remaster. Also not as a separate game, just reinstall the newer version onto MCC.

I’m in the camp of - no more anniversaries. Lets stop them.

I would want them to mostly focus on the multiplayer part of Halo 3 if they did an anniversary

I want to be able to search for Custom games online, like youre able to search for campaign lobbies with people online in Halo Reach. And I would also want all the armor unlocked and usable in the game, including Recon and flaming helmet (with any helmet or body piece) It would also be cool if they made blue flames for Halo 3, like they had in Reach. And then the last idea I could think of is upgrading the forge a little to make it similar to Reach’s with being able to delete everything off the map at once, or deleting every copy of one specific item off the map, Stuff like that

For a Halo 3 Anniversary 343 should stop putting their touch on the remastered maps. Lockout on H2A was so ugly it made me angry. The maps in Halo 1, 2, and 3 all had their own style: sandtrap was an old bruit force in the desert, guardian was an arena in the forest, but almost every map in halo 4 are the same. In Halo 4 and H2A they are either UNSC battle fields, or bland forerunner structures which never have any variety or character.

I would like to see H3A have blur studio cut scenes, terminals, and remastered music, but not changed. The maps I would like to see redone are Sandtrap, Guardian, Blackout, and some more which I can’t decide on.
