My name is Bill and I had an idea for Halo 4’s Forge. The idea consisted of making a object trait zone. Since the guys at Certain Affinity were able to make it to were a magnet helps set things into place, how hard would it be to make multiple objects move as one? In Halo 3 in order to get things to float and be stationary you had to put something under it first. In Reach you could put objects anywhere you wanted but it didn’t feel like you could react with the map as much. This left the question what could Halo 4 do that many of us might love?
The idea was make it to where you can make a zone. While inside the zone the objects would float. The problem with no gravity is things don’t go where you want them to. How many man cannons would it take to keep something of huge size to move the way you wanted to? It hit me like a bat and I thought an Orbit point. In the middle of a zone you could have a point in which objects would orbit around. Say I had a level that had water and my friend goes and makes a boat. How hard would it be to make the boat go in a circle or along a path. You could change the speed or how fast an object rotates around the point(s).
If you could walk up side down on a platform while its spinning by applying that player trait zone to that object, it would be interesting to see. With a few teleporters and some well rotated player/object trait zones you could redo M. C. Escher’s Relativity as a multiplayer map. You could take it that far if you wanted to. Design Two space crafts circling each other for a 8v8 match. Corvette vs a USNC ship. Add CTF or other games to the mix. Have a air battle with players jumping in a banshee or a falcon and leaving one carrier to attack the other one. Holy crap it sounds like Battle Front 2’s space battles but none the less it would be interesting.
Who would care to be upside down walking on a platform while it spins? One second your looking at the horizon, You kill some one with a BR and when you look at the edge again your looking at the ground where you would normally be seeing the sky. This would really show off Halo 4’s engine for it’s lighting and shadowing. I understand everyone is busy already trying to get the kinks out of the system and finishing up on everything else but this would blow alot of people’s minds.
I have more thoughts and I understand how this could be critisized on so many levels. It would be an interesting concept to see though. I would like anyone’s thoughts on it. If they can’t add this I also understand. Everyone has a time line they have to meet, thats just life. Either way I can’t wait until the game comes out.
