Ideas, for BP progression, and Progression Systems in Infinite

I am making this thread, so hopefully 343 can see the Ideas the community comes up with, for the fixes, to its BP system/Progression System.

I do not know if you will see this, but I wanted to air my grievances with Infinite’s Battle Pass System/Progression System.

As a disclaimer, I fully understand you have to monetize the customization. BUT with how you are acting blasé about its major faults is concerning for many Halo fan, including myself.

This is where I think the community, could help. I say this, because it is something that effects US the whole Halo Community. I also understand why, you do not fully trust the community, as Ideas I have heard have ranged from Reasonable/Debatable to non-plausible/radical.

From what I have gathered, there are three (3) to four (4) main points the Halo Community naturally agrees on:

  1. Match XP

  2. Earnable Credits/Currency

  3. The Limitations on Customization

  4. Individual Player Ranks

*I understand that as the game releases more, some issues will be addressed, but this is focused on the period of November 2021, and into the full release of Halo Infinite.

Match XP

This is a main concern, for Halo community, due Halo being a multiplayer Online Game. As such many would assume, using XP as a boost for BP (Battle Pass) progression would be a natural inclusion. So I can imagine, many were upset that the BP not including Match XP as a way to increase its rank.

To play Devil Advocate, I can understand if you were concerned with it being abused, especially with Forge containing scripting this time around. So waiting till after Forge to be released and testing thoroughly you would eventually include Match XP.

While, that is a very major concern; It limits the pool of progression on the long run, as you have Daily/Weekly challenges, and eventually adding in the Event Challenges. The problem is that 1-2 methods run out if you specifically play for them, and all your left with is 50xp every game, (1000xp) being needed to rank it up.
So by doing the math it would take at most 20 games for them to get a single (1) level, which has 100 tiers.
More math would be *2000 matches at most without challenges..
Now that is an extreme case, if you just played and did not ever complete challenges, but it is a point that stands.

Getting to the Fix, I would say put a twist on how Apex, utilizes its Match XP system. Which I believe is every 5000exp or so (could be less or more have not played in a while); You would be rewarded, a single (1) Star
( :star: )., while not much, it would accumulate over the course of hours/days playing.

This for me would be a nice medium, as it incorporates, something already known to people, and could potentially improve on it, due to the differences in the battle pass systems. A mock up would proabably look something like this:

Earn 10,000 Match XP Daily and Complete a Match Daily (Both Repeating)

Rewards: 350xp and Rewards: 50xp

OR:

Earn 1000 Match XP (Repeating and Increasing difficulty)
Rewards: 100XP

Say this was completed 7 times alongside its match counterpart.

Daily Challenges Complete a Match, and Earn 7000 Match XP

Obviously, this would be Hell to balance out, but it could be a start to something great in terms of Progression, as well as encouraging people to play longer.

If there are disagreements, or ideas that would refine this more I am all ears, or even hearing other systems Ideas

Earnable Credits/Currency

This is for people who, do not have the money, or those who want to wait. This is the most sought Idea after Match XP, due to many other Free to Play games (APEX,WARZONE,FORTNITE, Etc…), having the free path being able to earn payable currency, to eventually (4 seasons or so) buy the 4/5 season pass, which will pay for it self after if they continue to play.

I agree, we need a way to earn this Credits currency, outside of shucking out $10 for a skin.

The Idea I came up, with is one you have conveniently sitting on a shelf, and that is one or two ideas:

  1. Chief Challenges (those who complete them earn a customization item and 300 Credits) With the difficulty of said challenges being marked by Skulls. Challenges, that get harder and harder eventually making it a long winded Grind.
    The rewards increase the difficulty gets harder, and at the end of the road, you get XP, Credits, and Exclusive Customization/Spartan ID items, to prove you did this.

Challenges like:

Kill XXXX number of bots in BOT arena

Get XXXX kills with XX weapon. (Exclusive Weapon Camos/Variants/Ammo effect, etc.)

Capture XXX amount of Zones in XX game mode.

Get XXXX amount of kills with XX vehicle.

Get XXXX kills using XX armor variant (Mark VII, Mark V, Tenrai etc.)

These are just examples, of some from the top of my head, hell you could make challenges specifically for the lore junkies that covers lore we do not know of.

The creativity for armors variants/Camos is all there, and maybe make it so that said items, will show up after you completed the first challenge, so you can see what the Grind will eventually will lead to as a reward. Maybe a reverse engineered Needler, that shoots out promethean bullets, which was made by a curious Grunt. Or a Energy Weapon, that was only used by the highest authority before the elites, joined the Covenant.

While this applies to the longwinded grinders, you could also have season rewards, that when you complete all season challenges, you get 200-300 Credits, for your work. I say this because you have MCC which had a season challenge for rewards, both XP and Armor/Weapon customization. It is just adapting MCC’s season challenge rewards onto Infinite.

Limitations of Customization

This is one I am not spending much time on, as i am sure you have heard the community, and my previous points have touched on this a little.

But maybe add challenges into the game, specifically for customization, I want to say like the game COD: Ghosts did, which was kills/captures/etc… xx times for a skin.

I.e. I believe one was XXX kills with variable zoom while prone, to earn a Full Ghillie Suit.

I know there are better examples, but this is the only one that came to mind, when typing this out.

The Limits though in terms of colors, if the main thing people are fussing about though, as people don’t just want one pallet, they want to customize their spartan how they, want maybe some thought color per limb, so Red Arms, Blue legs, Black Helmet and Chest.

Another was the Armor Hall, and its limitation of Armor on other Spartan Generations, maybe if you unlocked a Tactical Helmet on the Mark VII, you could earn its predecessor (what it would look like) on a Mark V.

Individual Player Ranks

This one, I say is fourth (4), and its debatable, but its more of having a Rank being shown, and telling you have come this far.

I would not mind, if it was a combination of MCC’s system, which resets you. and maybe like the older games Highest Ranks, to where after you complete the Tour 1 - Tour 11, but you can go even farther than that if you want Halo Reach’s Inheritor Rank. Maybe even create new ranks that are just as badass as Inheritor was back then. just something so we can constantly progress.

**I want 343 to see this, to know, we understand you need certain things for monetization, and being in a certain virus situation is not helping. But these are Ideas from the community, and while some are trolls, we want this game to succeed for the 10 years you have planned. It is just these small things in the end of the day but, we would love you adding things like these.

Even if it did it’d be such a minimal increase like Reach that it would be irrelevant, plus, people pay for the Battle Pass, it’s implied the journey to get through it won’t be tedious, match XP is the only solution to this problem.

I do not want to wait over 6 months to get a real progression system, that’s not viable for long-term retention.

What I mean, did not specify enough i guess, for challenges, what would Forge Classify as, (PVP or not), as I have no doubt custom browser will come at some point, but that is far away for now.

If it classifies as PVP (With custom browser) some top ones would probably ones where you could just Grind out all your challenges in under an hour. And would then have some people complain they have nothing to do, as their challenges are all done.
