Ideas for an improved Req System in Halo 6

I’m ok with the req system in Halo 5. However, there are definitely some things that could be improved. After watching a video on YouTube, I was inspired to come here and post some of my ideas. I want to get the ball rolling for a discussion. I’m also new to forums. I’ve posted this once before in a different section, and I was redirected to the general discussion. So if I’ve once again made a critical error, I guess, tell me?

What if you could select a certain rarity of pack after earning a certain amount of points from campaign, custom games, AND online multiplayer? Instead of a whole designated pack for anything in the loot pool with that rarity, you get a dropbox after selecting the rarity of loot you want. The dropboxes would be weapons, vehicles, customization. In each pack depending on the rarity, you get 2 random items of the rarity you selected, and 2 reqs with 1 rarity level lower, than what you’ve previously selected.
Picture this:
“Open pack, -DROPBOX MENU- select rarity, you click rare, -DROPBOX MENU- Select type, weapon, vehicle, cosmetic. Purchase vehicle pack.” You receive 2 rare wasps and 2 uncommon gungooses. I think that would be awesome. After receiving something, instead of a commendation, you can choose to double the chances of receiving more of that specific item. So you get a scouthog commendation. But, if you hate scouthogs and you’re running low on Banshees, you can select, “Prioritize X, Y” or “Don’t Receive X, Y” This won’t guarantee you receiving what you want however. This is just requesting that you get that thing, or don’t get that thing. Just increasing your chances of getting, and or not getting, a certain thing. (I know this one’s a bit of a stretch and it might be too hard to balance, but I think it’s a cool idea.)

Maybe you could even have the ability to get packs that are even more deeply customized. Like after winning 5 games of CTF in a row while wearing a certain piece of armor, you gain the ability to open a legendary assassination pack where you get a randomly selected assassination from the loot pool, guaranteed legendary. Or after getting 300 Spartan kills with the railgun, you can open an ultra rare weapon pack, no points required, just achievement based unlock, but it still has a little bit of exciting randomness. You can still be proud to sport what you unlocked because you earned it with an achievement or a grind.

There would be a designated achievement loot pool with completely unique rewards, never available for purchase with real currency. So that way, people have respect for you no matter what the item is, because it was in the achievement pool. Achievement only unlocks. Some would be random depending on whatever weekly/daily challenge is available, (Oh yeah, there’s weekly and daily challenges in this fantasy Halo 6 of mine.) others unlocked from a specific achievement for a specific item. The rarity of the achievement loot you get is determined by which type of challenge you complete and how many of these challenges you complete. An uncommon challenge being “Kill 25 Players with the magnum today.” Then you get an uncommon helmet from the uncommon achievement loot pool. Each day, there’s 5 common challenges, 3 uncommon challenges, 2 rare challenges, and 1 ultra rare and legendary challenge. After getting a certain amount of commons completed, lets say 8, you can trade those 8 common challenges for a single uncommon, and so on. The only microtransactions would be to purchase cosmetic packs.

The almost 100% random grind that we have now isn’t as satisfying as it could be, with the lack of unique armor unlocked via achievement. This is especially because of the piles and piles of duplicate weapons, armor, and purple visors. (I say duplicate, but I really mean variant) You really want Shinobi, but after 4 hours of playing Swat or Warzone Assault to get points, you just get 7 legendary versions of a common helmet you already have from all the gold packs you bought.

I don’t mean to rag on Halo 5, I want to highlight the problems, so we can focus on solving them and building upon what Halo 5 did well. Speaking of things Halo 5’s req system did well, the power weapon variants are something to behold. The Ad Victoriam is so stupid cool. Multiple rockets, that you can manipulate mid-air?! Maybe that should be unlocked after a tough grind, to get 50 2 for 1 kills with the rocket launcher. Maybe the Supernova assassination should’ve been unlocked after a certain amount of sticky kills. Or maybe weapons shouldn’t be unlockable via achievement at all. What do you think?

Yeah they can improve it if it stays
