*Ideas for Alien Weapon skins

To some extent.
However, we have personal AIs, and other people don’t really see or hear those often.

Makes me think of that one scene in Planet of the Apes.

Immersion is important, and having a game’s style kept is important as well.
That said, I think the cat ears and mohawk effect aren’t that bad.
Some effects are annoying though.

Idk. I’m into Video Games for fun. I genuinely do not GAF if immersion is “ruined” by silly and wacky and unrealistic things. I don’t play games for accurate portrayals. I do not care if a Mil-Sim features wacky, unrealistic stuff. I do not care if a space game goes overboard with wacky, unrealistic stuff. I do not care if a WW1/WW2 based game doesn’t accurately portray the setting. I’m simply here for fun. I feel like people lack the understanding of what a video game is these days.

It’s gotten so bad that games with the intent of being wacky and silly, like something like Kingdom Hearts for example, gets heavily criticized for not being an accurate portrayal of real life. days. Or you got stupidly weird people who cry that swords in Elden Ring don’t function accurately to how they function in real life.

It’s mind boggling the crap that people cry about these days…

What he means is if something is an AR, it should look like an AR.

I for one have always been against the Storm Rifle design because it took the iconic C shaped alien looking blaster and made it generic.

But yea in general, I feel that a weapon no matter how goofy should still be recognizable as said weapon. You can add all the goofy stuff you want but the moment the weapon isn’t recognizable anymore is when we should stop.

Like a Grav hammer can look all sorts of dumb as long as you can tell it’s “Big thing on Long Stick which smash”

The alternate audio would be user end only

It could be dubstep using the AR bullet sound effects with a mild electronic sound to it. User end only

No everyone must hear it and it must be the most baked dubstep anyone has heard. Also 200% Content Aware.

Even in a situation like this where the base gun can’t be recognized, I still don’t care. I’m here for the fun. But I guess that’s just me.

Video games with a focus on setting usually need some coherence.
You might not care, and that’s fine, but some people do care.

As for having fun, I think it affects fun to some degree.
When you’re distracted by how out-of-place things look, it can hinder the gameplay focus somewhat.

I don’t know about Kingdom Hearts, but for Elden Ring, having more realism in combat has been something people liked about From Software’s games since the Souls games.

Also, I’m fine with games having wacky things as long as it’s within reason.
Kingdom Hearts having weird things is fine, because as you said, that’s the intent of those games.
However, if for example Elden Ring had KonoSuba characters in anime style, it wouldn’t be fine as it would be very out-of-place, unlike Dragon’s Dogma having Berserk armors.
