It’s just the Spartan’s Inertia.
Now, if you are standing still and begin moving forward, you will just begin going the normal pace just as we are used to.
But, if you are going in the same direction for about 2 seconds, than your spartan speeds up and goes faster. it loses this speed when it goes in another direction.
The reason this is better than sprint is because you can do it in ALL directions. Strafing won’t be killed this way, and if someone wanted to turn around and run away they would have to walk a normal pace for a deathly 2 seconds before their spartan gained momentum and ran out of there.
What do you guys think? Let’s iterate on this.
I entirely understand where you’re going with this and it seems like a pretty clear idea to make sprint more effective and less AA status but I may personally find it a hassle and would feel a bit like floating a short distance until “slowing down” once you stop moving.
Unless of course thats just what Im thinking and not how you envision it. Other than that I somewhat like the build up speed idea.

Well, you don’t have to build up anything to lose the speed. if you let go of the stick than your spartan will just stop. (just like they stop in Reach when they finish sprinting)
However, this just makes it harder to switch directions and just run away. which is what i was going for. On top of that, you can do it in any direction, not just forward, but also backwards and sideways.
Ohhhhh okay I gotchya, that makes more sense and that how I would probably want it
Good call
there was nothing wrong with sprint in reach and i hope 343 keeps it the same in halo 4 its not that big of a deal OMG HE IS SPRINTING seriously? were playing as super soldiers in super suits. it would be silly if we couldn’t sprint granted were walking tanks but were agile as well i loved the addition of sprint i don’t know why it is hated so much.
i like your idea op but i think sprint is fine the way it is.

I also agree with this, unlike many people on the forums, Im okay with sprint. However it would be nice to get away from the AA and have sprint as just a standard thing.
As you stated, its perfectly understandable for a supersoldier to be extremely agile and fast.
You dont fix cancer, you remove it.
> You dont fix cancer, you remove it.
I agree man. But Cancer isn’t a very good thing to compare sprint to, because some people actually enjoy sprint.
NVM This idea isn’t the best the idea for Sprint
N-no…
This is exactly what we all mean by suggesting changes just for the sake of change.
Ya i fail to see what’s wrong with spring too. It doesn’t wreck the game at all…
Does anyone remember the day where we use to complain about not having sprint?
This would destroy strafing more than Reach’s movement acceleration did.
> This would destroy strafing more than Reach’s movement acceleration did.
How? This keeps it the same.
The only time you accelerate to a “boosted” speed is after going in the same direction for 2 seconds. But before that you’re walking at a normal speed, in which acceleration is not present…
I like this idea. So you’d go in one direction for ‘x’ seconds and you’d start to gain speed to the point where this arm is in the sprint position and if you change direction or are shot, you’ll totally slow down.
I like it very much but it could affect gameplay a lot.

Absolutely not.
So basically add momentum to the game? Interesting idea, and especially so if you apply the extra force to melee damage or having it affect vehicle you might run into.

Wow! that’s a very interesting concept… gain momentem and then hit a warthog and watch it flip
