Idea thread for fine tuning the game.

Hello all, I decided to make this thread so that we could try to compile our ideas on how we can improve this already fantastic game. With that being said let me start us off. I know a lot of people think instant respawn is a bad idea for Halo, and currently it does make matches a little too hectic. So rather than removing instant respawn I think a good idea to fine tune it would be to make it a reward after getting so many kills. For example, if you kill five people you get the option to instant respawn when you die, but if you die again before getting another five kills you have to wait to respawn. This idea would reward teams, make revenge killing much less prevalent, and actually add another layer of depth. In time people might end up saving their instant respawns for a time when they know their team needs them back immediately.

Once again this is just a thread to offer ideas to try and better the experience for everyone. Lets all try to have a mature and interesting discussion.

Is there really no one with any proactive ideas out there? : /

Sounds like to me you need to go MAKE and PLAY your OWN game and stop trying to destroy Halo 4. Halo 4 is fine just the way it is.

I didn’t bash or hate on Halo 4 in the slightest. I actually, and I quote myself, called it a “fantastic game.” This thread was just meant to generate conversation about possible ways to improve it. Once again no bashing whatsoever, it’s obvious you didn’t even read what I posted so why don’t you go ahead and troll someplace else. Because if you don’t even have the common decency to read what I wrote, you shouldn’t be posting in the first place.

I believe the Instant respawn shouldn’t be instant.

Currently, as far as I can tell, pressing the button for instant respawn doesn’t actually ignore your timer. It just docks off six seconds. I believe this should be halved to 3 seconds docked.

One or two deaths and you can still get back in fast. Start dying a whole lot and you start waiting a lot longer. Makes enough sense to warrant doing and it is honestly the only modification to the spawning I think needs to happen aside from editing of location on some maps.

One of the big weakpoints of Halo 4 gameplay, if I had to pick a huge one, might be just how ridiculously easy it is to die, mash spawn and DMR who killed you. Or rather how simple it is in general to kill with the DMR or BR. Either or. Precision weapons are very precise and take excellent reflexes to operate efficiently but really it isn’t anything but a minor thing for a typical Halo4 player to wantonly spam their precision weapons in the general direction of a player of the opposite color.

It just isn’t that hard to kill people when you just cut loose. You die faster in Halo 4 then just about any other game and this is related to how ridiculously easy it is to just spam shots down range. There isn’t a precision mentality, just a ‘hail of bullets’ one.

You see it most obviously with some players around average skill level using a BR. Firing as fast as possible at anything they see not even particularly worried about headshots until the shield pops. The DMR is no different, just slower firing and capable of the same behavior from much further away.

Anyway. That is my input. Right now I think there is very little balancing that can be done. It is too early. The people haven’t really had time to sink their teeth into every facet. There needs to be more time for the players to truly adapt before we can say with 100% accuracy whether some of this is real issues with the game or some of it is the veteran players having a hard time adapting to 343i’s Halo.

I’d definitely increase the time it takes for dropped weapons to de-spawn, and rework the spawning on Abandon, so that teams have more static spawns, but spawn on the natural pathways at either end of the map. Finally, remove Complex from 4v4. It really only suits Flood and Team Objective games.

Honestly I think it is an awful Flood map too.

>Camping on top of buildings as humans.

Garbage. They can take it out of Flood too. Wouldn’t be heartbroken. Either that or pop a soft kill zone up there.
