Microtransactions have garnered a lot of controversy since their inception. Personally, I would never buy a req pack with real money, but I prefer that to holding maps and features behind a pay wall. Be that as it may, I think it’s time that req packs and any future microtransactions begin to fuel more than MLG tournaments and prolonged development cycles. I give you: the Spartans Never Walk Alone Fund.
The SNWA Fund, or something like it, has a simple premise. A certain portion of the revenue recieved from req packs or their equivalent would be set aside by 343 to build a fund supporting the children of fallen or MIA soldiers, or perhaps disabled veterans. I believe this is only fitting, and it would be an excellent way for Halo to give back to the world in a meaningful way.
The SNWA Fund would provide a real incentive to those who find req packs difficult to get behind, and it would unite the community with a common, beneficial goal. It would also help with the public image of gamers in general.
Such a program, even on a very small scale, would have the potential to do immeasurable amounts of good. I submit this idea in the hopes that others will see the good that this community is capable of and will help advocate for something like the SNWA Fund.
It would be a better place for the money than e-Sports at least.
Good idea OP. There may be many legal hurdles, but worth discussing.

Wholeheartedly agreed.
The reason i have never purchased req packs with real money is because I have no interest in esports and think the whole thing is stupid. But if the money went to supporting children of fallen soldiers like you said or to childrens hospitals, or even things like animal shelters i would definitely buy req packs with real money.
But as long as its funding esports and making “pro” players rich, i will never buy a req pack.

Y’know, I like the fact that Esports are becoming more mainstream, but I agree that my support falls short of buying req packs for that reason. However, I think something like the SNWA Fund would not only be a great cause but would boost req pack sales and do a lot of good for people.
This is a brilliant cause
many veterans and soldiers die everyday (24 at least) and this will help families get back on their feet again

I second this motion.

I’m glad this idea is coming back! I’d almost forgotten about it.
We should really try and push for it; after all, it’s an honorable goal as I see it.

Do not revive old threads.
