So me and my friend have an idea to help repopulate halo 4, it might sound crazy to you but we think if they gave everyone the dlc for free the game would repopulate quite well.
I know what your thinking 343 is company so what would they have to gain from giving away some of there work? Other than the population boost they would also be getting some good advertisement for the next halo as a lot of people judged halo 4 on its opening month rather than the game it is now.
What about all the people that payed for the maps? well at this point no one gets to play them so its money wasted. I doubt anyone would complain about more players getting access to these maps.
I know this sounds like a stupid idea but When a game is as dead as halo 4 its worth trying something that isn’t the norm.
What do you guys think? agree? disagree? let me know

they just released a DLC playlist, but will exclude it again somewhen in february…however i also agree with u that making map packs free in general would be a really really good idea, cause they include some really nice maps and it’s a pity that they get played so little. i’ll never understand why u have to pay for maps… i know money but i don’t think they really get some much from it… anyways it’s a good thought, though the impact would the too small to actually repopulate h4
I do think this will help alittle bit. But as snicker doodle said they won’t just give it away. However I like your initiative. Why not try spreading the word on waypoint. You could make a post about why you think players who left should come back. Then if someone on waypoint makes another “why halo is dead” thread you could direct them to that. Just don’t sugar coat it. If you say nothing but positive opinions (wether or not those are your true opinions) no game is perfect. An most will accept that.
I don’t think giving away free dlc will repopulate halo although that would be nice. Plus you can’t really change the game to fix it without sceawing it up, Best to wait for the next game.
I’m almost 100% sure it wouldn’t help boost population. They should’ve just did the Halo 2 DLC route where the first few months, you have to pay for the maps and after that period they were free to everyone. And I still bought them day one.
I still think that if they gave Halo 2 the Anniversary make-over and tied in some classic maps and full access to Halo 4’s multiplayer, more people would show up. Especially those who prefer the original Halo Trilogy.
I have friends who stopped playing Halo when Reach came out (some even Halo 3), but they still got Anniversary because they loved CE so much and I know they’d do the same with Halo 2.
At this point there is not a force on earth that would make me rebuy Halo 4, and i’m not the only one who thinks this way.Not to mention they already said they can’t put descope in the game and remove flinch. They can however remove sprint.Flood playlist is proof.Yet refuse to do so.Doesn’t make me very interested when a company isn’t willing to at least try something to keep people playing.
If 343 was serious and cared on how fans of Halo think about features in Halo. They would have put a Q&A on the Xbox Dashboard that can only be taken once per Xbox.Shouldn’t be too hard. Can get the most data by doing a survey like that. They already show silly ads that no one cares about. So doing something like this should be a piece of cake.
Honestly a few maps aren’t worth $30.It’s unrealistic even for $20, yet you see it anyways.Fan’s of Halo who are excellent and passionate with forge would happily make several maps equal or better in quality. If they could of course have access to the full map editor 343 uses.Just seeing the maps they made being played by everyone would make them happy.
Though since the game developer’s make the maps and are being payed for by wages we gotta pay them. You think by now they would realise that model doesn’t work well anymore. Not a whole lot of people pay for them if they don’t have to or feel an obligation to.I’m not spending money for mediocre maps that i won’t like.Just a bad model. Why do you think remakes of popular maps are used?Answer:To suck people into buying a few maps when they really only wanted the remake.
It’s like music CD’s.Why buy a whole CD for $15-$25 when you would only like a few of them at best?Hence why people just download the song or two they like for 50 cents or free.
Hopefully they will get it through their thick skulls that a few bucks is all the maps are really worth to the majority who buy the game.Though with MS i don’t see that ever happening since MS is a company who’s greed will destroy them. Not immediately of course but overtime it is a possibility. The X1 nearly flopped before release due to their “policies”, enough said.
There’s a reason why the saying “the customer is always right” exists. It doesn’t refer to them actually being correct, but instead because if they don’t like what your selling, they don’t buy.Hence why i refer to the current “map packs” as a bad model to use.Meaning i don’t like them for what they cost and i’m not going to buy them. That’s what makes me “right”.
Nothing will repopulate Halo 4. First, the problems with Halo 4 are so deep and core to the game that they can’t be fixed just with new maps. Second, the damage has been done, and the players who left are gone for good.
This idea has been out there for quite some time now. Heck, even in the Reach thread they have been asking for this. If they haven’t done it there I doubt it will happen for Halo 4.
Like Vektor0 said there are more issues with this game to overcome than can be fixed with some free maps, unfortunately.
Disagree. The map packs aren’t the problem. No one will buy DLC for a game that they do not enjoy.
For a variety of reasons, players are not enjoying what 343 has done to Halo 4. Even though they did do the changes, more than likely, they’re not going to return as the problems they have with the game still exist. Even I have a hard time enjoying the normal variants of Infinity Slayer, even though the weapon balance has gotten better.
Halo 4 has issues to this day. Seeing that 343 is more than likely not going to fix them in Halo 4, and probably saving it for Halo XB1, they’re not going to go back until 343 shows that they’ve done things about it. Until then, Halo 4 is going to continue to have a population problem.
