Idea: Helix Weekend Event

So I’ve been thinking about this alot, even so much as passing the idea down between some friends online, and many would say its a rather interesting way to not only to stave off the fear of FOMO, but also add something to look forward to every week other than the sporadic HCS events and the Challenge/Store resets on Tuesdays. At the moment, its hard not to recognize how the game has been stagnating as of late, and with the game getting closer to its 1 year anniversary mark, it would give newer players less and less of a reason to play when there is so many armor cosmetics that could be permanently missed, that it would get to the point where there is no incentive to even get started, I had an idea that may help put those fears to rest, and even give players who have been here for awhile to get content they missed or even finish event tiers that they couldn’t before. This harkens to the Double EXP events that Halo used to have every weekend, where certain random playlists can be inserted for the duration until monday.

I call it the Helix Weekend Event

Upon the arrival of friday (Perhaps around 12PM PST), the game would add a random playlist, as well as a separate list of challenges to be completed over the course of the weekend ranging from 5-10 of them. Upon the completion of those challenges, a player would receive a token, upon which they could redeem it either for 3 tier rewards of a past event, or 1 weekly reward that they have not had the chance to earn in previous weeks. It would end on Monday and then the cycle continues every consecutive week.

Never a bad idea to share thoughts like this. Weekend challenges are a great opportunity to continue playing. Thanks fellow Spartan!

I think its one of the biggest things this game needs right now. I won’t lie to myself that there is still alot to fix, but it never hurts to throw ideas out there that 343 could mull over while they do their work polishing the game. I don’t blame people for leaving right now, but right now, Infinite has a ton of potential to mold itself over, and this one feels like it could help people have a reason to hop in, even more than a year or so after its release.

There’s great amount of potential in this game. It will continue to grow and develop as time goes on. Many choices have been made before, but there’re many new ones being made to that will define Halo Infinite.

You do raise a good point. Will any new players ever get a chance to earn the Yoroi armour core for instance?

I personally have all past event/ultimate challenge rewards but wouldn’t be opposed to seeing this implemented to help others.

That honestly didn’t cross my mind till you pointed it out, but you are absolutely right. The Yoroi core definitely is one that doesn’t have a means of returning unless they have a way to have it available in the future.

I have missed quite alot of the Season 1 weekly ultimates, mostly due to time constraints and the general lack of interests in the emblems. I did miss a couple of the weekly ultimate rewards that I still kick myself over. The armor coating in the first few weeks for the Mk7, and the Neon Steel Bulldog coating.

I use the alabaster cognac razorback skin and the neon steel bulldog skin. Everything else I’ve replaced with unlocks from event passes pretty much. It would still be nice to have everything unlocked so I know what you mean though.

Edit: and the ever-filled juzu chest for Yoroi

That is a fun coating to have. If I could commend 343 for anything is that the rewards this season have been far more interesting than backdrops or emblems. I got lots of cool visors and armor pieces, and should the Wolf Fang come back, I’m getting it. Even still, yeah, the Neon Steel was my jam, but I was out that week and it was so cool that I wish I hadn’t missed it.

I think this is a really good idea. As multiple people have stated 343 has created a game with a lot of potential. But unfortunately they haven’t utilized their own creation to its fullest extent.

Halo Infinite needs something like this. Infinite needs a casual event that can come back much more frequently and allow players who have missed things or came just short of completing an event to unlock things that they missed. I also think an event of this fashion is a win-win for 343 and the fans. It allows players to have more to do in the game, and to unlock cool cosmetics that would be otherwise impossible. And for 343 it allows players to do all of this while not just handing things out for free to people.

Halo Infinite really does have a lot of potential and it’s honestly not that hard 343 to put in smaller events like this I don’t believe they have an excuse.

That’s a good idea. I missed the Holiday and Cyber Showdown events. I’d love to see a system like that.

I would love to see the event resurface at a later date. A great way for all Spartans to continue to earn or even new ones the chance to earn rewards.

I think a token system would be better since the chance that you missed some of the rewards would be greater that that specific reward.
If you have all the Yoroi items you it would not incentivize you to play.
A token system would also be good for friends that want to play together since we can play the same thing but earn personalized rewards.

I think a token system would require more resources that a recurring event and at the moment that resources would be better spent elsewhere.
But when the time is there I hope 343 would implement something like this although it is not industry standard to earn event rewards outside the events.

I like your idea but there is way to much consideration for the fans and it doesnt generate a profit so I doubt we get fan service like that with this game

Can’t generate a profit if you don’t have something to draw people in. These little things keep player engagement high, which means more incentive to eventually buy the store bundles and season passes. Without that engagement, then the game is doomed to be mired in the same average rut that many AAA games have fallen into.
