Idea: Have MCC contain Halo 5 as a "DLC" . . .

When you buy Halo 5, it functions as a DLC for MCC instead of a stand alone game. Why?

It would keep the community together instead of splitting them between games. MCC would then be patched to include Halo 5 only playlists as well as including Halo 5 in the other lists.

People that have Halo 5 but not MCC would either just be given the menus and have the other games as DLC or it could come with the other games as well.

Thoughts?

Not really possible considering how big Halo 5 is. MCC is already absolutely huge, theres no way they could fit all of halo 5 into it.

Meh, its something to think about for the long term future of a waypoint-style app (eventually, make the MCC, Halo 5, Halo 6, and so on playable from one location) but I don’t think that it would be fair to Halo 5 to slot it into the so titled “Master Chief Collection.” For that game to be more than mere DLC it shouldn’t be explicitly slotted in the shadows of the franchise.

Love the idea of all future Halo games being added into what is already there in the MCC, so that they’re all accessible from one place, but I don’t think it will or perhaps even can happen.

why not? People have to download/install all of Halo 5 anyway. There is no technical limitation from stopping it from happening. There isn’t a magical “max game size”.

I think it’s rather unlikely. Plus, I’d much rather have it as a separate game. A lot of people’s download times would be astronomical, and since you can’t get DLC on a disk… Yeah. Anyway, the Halo channel already does a similar thing, like Waypoint does on the 360. You can launch any Halo game from it, so long as the disk is in or you have the digital copy.

They would still market it as a stand alone game. That’s why I put DLC in quotes, because it would technically treated as a DLC to an existing game, but it would be a full game.

Who said you can’t get DLC on a disc? That’s been possible for a long time on PCs (they used to be called ‘expansions’). Just because it hasn’t happened on xbox one doesn’t mean isn’t possible.

DLCs are not as accessible and interesting as standalone games, so there’s barely anyone who’s gonna buy it.

Of all the games you you played, how many of them you got a DLC for?

lol, I’m saying that it would be treated as a stand alone game. In the stores, commercials, etc. But when you install it, it installs as a technical “DLC” to bring all games together. To every day users, it would appear like a normal stand alone game, but it would be integrated with MCC.

Don’t really know about the technical limitation there but would absolutely buy that games as a MCC DLC to avoid having to switch CD all the time.
I will totally stick to the old multis even if halo 5’s multi rocks.

How about if you buy a digital copy they include a link to start within MCC but it does not effect the main menu launch tab on the Xbox 1.

for instance if you own digital copies of MCC and halo 5 guardians you can jump right to any of the games from within MCC.

I think I see what you are saying.

I’m buying a full game so I want a full game not a plug in.

I’d be furious if this happened.
