I thought of this awhile back. Since having gun attachments via a loadout pretty much breaks the classic Halo MP what if there were Map Pick ups that gave attachments to the guns you are holding as either individual attachments or a full mod kit?
Think about this, you get a “Spec Ops” kit for the SMG and it becomes the one from ODST. Disregarding whether a Silencer should have an actual game-play impact the M7S is more accurate and has a zoom. By making them map pick-ups it would still fit the classic Arena Game Style IMHO while adding a newish resource for players to fight over.
Feel free to give your own ideas if you agree, or if you disagree please explain why.
> Here’s an idea… NO!
Could you at least explain why? They’re pick-ups. It was just an idea, if anything since they would be pick-ups I felt like they would be more in style with past Halo’s than any of the newer gameplay additions.
As long as I can get fall camo on my AR by getting 500 headshots
Not a bad idea but I would rather just have different weapons for variety.
But in campaign though, we need weapon mods and upgrades. I would love that.
Feels like an unnecessary addition. We’ve got equal starts back, and everyone has the same abilities, access to weapons, etc. I don’t think we should add things other than weapon skins or character skins that don’t actually affect gameplay. I’m all for customization, but not if it affects gameplay.

I have never felt that MP gameplay should have stopped these things from appearing in SP either, I’ve been surprised that we haven’t gotten them for SP already.
The reason I suggested mods for weapons on maps is because we are already having a bit of “Redundancy” syndrome. For Precision weapons we already have a BR, DMR, Carbine, Lightrifle and maybe one more I’m totally spacing right now.
Instead of adding more very similar weapons I thought it would simplify things if we could acquire mods for existing ones.
Also going back to the SMG example; if we have either AR or BR starts then you would have to get an SMG and then get your mod. Since you would have to get both it could help with balancing.
With the existence of the Prophet’s Bane and other unannounced Legendary Weapons this idea isn’t too far off.
Also to clarify, you wouldn’t get to “pick” what the mod would do to your weapon. Every weapon would have a preset mod kit form that it become after the pick-up. This isn’t really customization as it is a milder form of power weapons.

How is it customization if you have to go fight over it as a map pickup?
> throws up in mouth
Once again, if you don’t like it please say why. This doesn’t help anything.
Please read the OP everyone, these are PICKUPs, not Loadouts. If you don’t like them even as pick-ups, ok. But please don’t confuse them with loadouts.
