Idea.Forge contest! Winner gets their map realized

Would be nice to see a big forge contest when Forge drops this month. What about having a forge contest to celebrate that, and give some hype for the community. Get friends or randoms to test out the map. And 343 would maybe do this by having a bar of minimum players played the map. Have a deadline and send it to 343 in some way, maybe threw files share or a post on forums orr/halo[1] . And the community would have to have some say in it to close the maps down to 10 really good featured maps.

One or two(I don’t know what’s really fesable) cartographer gets their map made by the ground up by 343 with artstyle and such. And they also get a prize in maybe money or some cool Halo swag.

Maybe narrow the contest down to themes. What would a base build of a flood map look like? Or narrow it down to classic maps remade for Halo 5’s new gameplay in mind. Or a big team contest, arena contest, action sack contest.
There are many opportunities here, so please comment with some ideas we could give 343 for how such a contest could be fun, interesting and exiting for both the community and 343. I don’t really see this happening in december since the file share system might be a bit to basic from the start, but spring 2016 sometime?

NO!!!

It took forever the last time this happened. There is no need for it. Plus, all it did was create arguing and crying.

In order for forge to be absolutely amazing, it has to have a it’s own playlist. A playlist where the user can set their custom lobby by to public or private. Public would make it so people searching in the Forge playlist can be dropped into these public lobbies. This way there is no need for the frustration of someone trying to rely on friends of friends of friends to fill their lobby So they can test their map.

JIP is needed as well for this. This would help with the people who make garbage. If we get thrown into a god awful pile of trash, we could bring The menu up and press a search again tab or something and the game would jump us into the next lobby.

Yeah I see how it’s logistical hard to do to satisfy everyone. I just want to bring this to attention and maybe we can get the discussion going on how such a contest would be done. But I think what you ask for is an incredibly complex thing to implement.

I created a “Forge a Breakout Map” contest thread HERE, and no one seemed to give a yoink, so I don’t think anyone cares about doing something like that. They don’t even do screenshot contests anymore (except for Grim in the Universe section … thanks for the -Yoink!- new badge, Grim). Good luck trying to make a thread encouraging people to be proactive and actually enjoy the game around here until all the complaining dies down.

But then again, what was I expecting people to say? “Hey, yeah! Neat idea, I’ll go design a map … in two months”.

meh, better to just let the people stew their own perfect map instead of making it into a competition

I guess so  Hopefully someone from 343 sees it and refine the idea of having these contests that can include more people that are not that into beeing the best competetive player.
