I have an idea for a Warzone Variant. It’s partially to fix the feeling of getting kill stolen on bosses, or having the other team just camp your base for kills.
The gametype would still use the same maps as normal Warzone, and still have the same bases and everything. However, Base capture points, Boss kill points, and basic kill points do not count. The only objective of this gametype, is to capture all bases and unlock the enemy core. And to unlock the enemy core, all THREE bases must be capped, which means you can’t do somehting like cap two bases and rush the core or something. The AI exist purely to ruin the players’ day when capping a base or leaving a base undefended. Instead of being spawned in just to be killed, the AI now spawn randomly between major traversal points and bases. Meaning, you could be trying to get from West Armory to Garage, and then suddenly a wraith commander plops down with a squad of Fuel Rod Grunts and elite majors. Or you’re defending Monument from the other team and suddenly prometheans spawn on the base. And if they eliminate all players in the base, THEY capture the base and effectively make it neutral, until someone clears the AI out and caps it themselves. The AI are also a constant threat, meaning there won’t be any downtimes like there are during normal Warzone. The callouts that Palmer makes for AI enemies would be just about the AI attacking any of your bases/enemies in your general location. As the game progresses, you will deal with worse threats, like Captain Hestro, or Commander Lochagos or the Warden, both increasing in frequency and number. They might make a push on major points like the Middle base on most maps, or they may have a cycle, going around the map and drawing in more AI forces with them, and possibly clearing a few bases along the way
maybe as an optional idea: If the AI cap all three bases, it becomes a scramble to clear out the bases, as both cores could be vulnerable, idk, it feels like that could be abused.
To reiterate, the main objective in this variant is like a double sided Warzone Assault, but with AI being a threat to the player and not a resource. The benefit you gain from killing the AI is that your base has one less enemy to worry about. You don’t gain points from farming AI or Kills, or camping in 2/3 bases, or even camping in 1/3 bases while stealing boss kills. The only way to win is to play the objective as hard as you can. Capture the bases, and eliminate the core, and kill anything that stands between you and that objective.
